I need to cancel a flight that will incur a cancellation fee. Does Qantas provide a receipt for the cancellation fee? If not can it be requested?

The flight was booked online on Qantas website.

Only thing that I got through when I cancelled a flex last week was this para in the email.

The original invoice plus evidence of the cancellation should hopefully be enough for you to demonstrate to someone that the cancellation fee was taken. 1784344917291.png

I feared as much. This is for my wife's employer. Unfortunately they require a receipt that says something like;

Cancellation fee on PNR xx_xx_ $700.00

She was required to change the dates of the trip but when she went to do this she found that changing the dates was 2k more expensive than cancelling and rebooking. So she booked a new trip and hoped to save the cancellation fee if Qantas did a schedule change and then she would receive a full refund by declining the schedule change and opting for a full refund. Unfortunately there has been no schedule change and the first booked trip dates are coming into view so it looks like she is going to have to cancel.

In my view the Qantas system is deficient in not generating a receipt for the cancellation. When she used to use a travel agent they had no problems generating receipts for flight change and cancellation charges.

Mebbe worth phoning them up and seeing they can generate a doc. I doubt they have anything, but if you don't ask...

Edited to add: employer seems like they need an enema if a solid doco trail won't satisfy.

I cancelled one a couple of days back.

After clicking cancel, a screen appears with the cancellation details.

In my case it was a Classic award ( at the old rates 😭). It did not show the points refund, but did say “the original value of the ticket is/was $xx_”.

Will the employer accept a screenshot?

I can dig up the screenshot in the morning if you want a look at what to expect.

Yes that would be great
