Booked flights using USDM, now they have merged with AA what fees are payable if cancelled?.

As I see it on AA now its USD$150 for first pax then $25 for second?.

I think ive seen something about $75 date change fee. Might be a better option.

The $75 is a late ticketing fee for departures inside 21 days.

My understanding is if you keep same departure and arrival city you pay $75 per pax for date change, if you change departure point or destination you pay $150 per pax.

Where does the $75 fee come from? It's only for express ticketing... ie within 21 days of departure. There was a post by aikman in another thread here on AFF, but that was because ticketing failed, and the new ticket was to be issued within 21 days:

I booked a QF domestic award online last week using AA miles. It showed up on my QF Manage My Booking straight away. I didn't realise however that my credit card was declined at the time and it didn't ticket. AA now wants to charge a US$75 last minute booking fee which makes the award not so good value anymore. If I do nothing, will the award booking just expire and no miles will be charged?

If you have an AA award, date and routing changes are free of charge provided the origin and destination remain the same.

If you have an old USDM award, then it seems YMMV. If they apply the 'old' USDM rules you'll be up for the $150. If they let you get away with the new AA rules, it'll be free of charge (although once you start changing the routing they'll likely tell you to rebook the award under AA terms and conditions)

I've just looked at the fees for the award. Definitely a $75 fee listed for date only changes within 21 days of the original departure date moving to the same award type, after the details of origin/destination change fees. It is waived for higher status levels. But I've put in my QFF/emerald number and my AA status is nothing.

The 21 day booking fee is also listed later on.

Thanks for the clarification medhead. It makes sense, otherwise people would book an award for more than 21 days, and then change the date in the hope of avoiding the express ticketing fee.

In my experience there is a $150 fee to get the points refunded if you cancel a booking. However, the fee is waived if the booking is not cancelled, but changed and the new points required is the same or higher.

Two weeks ago i did a date change on a USDM booking. No fee payable at all, although she did say she would check to see if there was any change fee, came back with a 'no that is free'. To be honest it is luck of the draw. That will be my last experience with the USDM award redemption desk and it is always memorable.

Same origin and destination is no fee. Changing either of those requires the miles to be redeposited at a fee of $150, which is waived for EXP members using miles from their account.
