Hi, have 2 international seats on sale fare coming up, with plenty of points in the bank. Has anybody had any luck using points to upgrade? When online, ticket does not qualify.

You would need to contact Qantas to pay to get the fares to an upgradable level and then enter the upgrade lottery.

It won't be cheap and there's no guarantee you'll get the upgrade.

yes I'm learning, unless I need something from Telstra. Transcripts are a lifesaver :)

Wouldnt there be a change fee to change from a sale fare to a saver fare? From memory that itself would be pretty expensive for a sale fare.

Yep dependent on the length of flight I could see an upgrade becoming cost prohibitive

Very occasionally QF has offered points upgrade opportunities on the deep discount fares. I snagged one on a Trans Tasman last year.

Sale Y fares generally are not upgradeable (and this will be noted in the conditions when one books, or looks to book). Some premium sale fares like in PE and J are upgradeable though.

Yes it's around $120 fee and plus the fare difference
