Welcome to AFF :D

AA award flights can be booked using https://www.qantas.com.au/fflyer/do/dyns/auth/awardbooking/startsearch.

Of course you need award flight availability for a route, date and time to do so. This can vary.

22K QFF points can get you travel in economy on AA at the following one-way trip rates:
  • 8000 points for up to 600 miles.
  • 12000 points for 601-1200 miles.
  • 18000 points for 1201-2400 miles

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

If you travel on Staff Travel tickets, you don't get FF points. But if you simply book a commercial ticket as a normal passenger, then yes, you will get FF points (providing that you have enrolled as a QFF member). And if you pay using a credit card that's linked to QFF, then you will get extra points from the credit card.

For USA domestic flights, you can only use the Qantas "classic" awards. Unless your departure and destination ports are the major hubs, it's probably worthwhile to call into the service centre and pay the extra 3500 points for an assisted booking.

Also, I tend to use the AA.com website and select the redeem AAdvantage miles option to search for the flights/times/routes first before calling into Qantas. That should give you an idea of availability (usually only the cheapest redeemable AAdvantage seats are open to Qantas in my experience).

I'm not sure whether my method is the best way of determining seating/availability, but the Qantas FF site has very limited departure/destination points for AA flight redemptions.

Hi Sydney_Kings.

Are you saying that you can find available MileSAAver award seats on AA.COM, and then call Qantas FF and ask them to book a flight/seat that is not otherwise showing through QFF Classic awards ?

I'm looking for New York to Orlando, and the QFF site only has flights via Miami - there are direct flights/seats available on AAdvatage.
