Hi everyone,
Im curious to know if it might be possible to delay points and more importantly SC's from hitting your account?

What im thinking is if you take the flights as booked but remove your FF number from the bookings and once your SC's reset back to zero, submit a points claim.

has anyone tried this before? or do you think once they add the points and SC's, they will deduct them as they technically belong to the previous year?

Thoughts?

If you did do this, the SC's are still treated as having been received on the day of the flight, so they will count in the year the flight was taken. They will just appear as an adjustment on your statement, so that they count towards your lifetime total.

If you look at most flight postings, you will see two dates - the date it posted to your account, and in the flight details, the date of the flight. The second one is the important one for which year SC's are recognised in.

Points and SCs post effective the date of travel rather the date of posting - so no you can not manipulate this.

It might occur by accident but it is unlikely. For example you can see from the info below that a points adjustment posted on 15 June with an effective date of 9 June:

15 JUN 10 POINTS ADJUSTMENT
QF 012 FIRST 09JUN10 LOS ANGELES/SYDNE
