I have a friend that is a member of QF frequent flyer. She has flown from LHR to MEL and points have been credited to QF FF
She wants to credit the return flight to AA Advantage. Is this possible and how?

You can credit any flights in the future to whatever ff program you like - just make sure whatever fare bucket the QF flights are booked in is a points/SC earning class on AA. You're not locked in to whatever ffn is already in the booking so you could have 4 QF flights on the same ticket & same pnr & credit each one to 4 different ff programs if you want.

You could either ring the airline once the first flight are travelled on & the points/SC have posted for the outbound flight, then advise tell them you want to credit points to the AA program for the return flight. When you checkin double check the ffn on your boarding pass is the program you want to credit the flight to so if it's the wrong number it can be corrected then and there.

You don't want to be in the final stages of boarding then asking the gate agent at the eleventh hour to switch numbers because they're more than likely flat out trying to chase up fail to board pax so may tell you it cannot be done.

I think some people have come unstuck when they may have credited points to QF & they have posted to their ff account then they try & credit it to AA instead. This you can't do.

Thx OBBabe for a great detailed reply. Ticket class is S so I believe she gets .5 points per mile with AA and 1 with QF. After much searching I cant work out if you can earn SC. But I assume if you TICKET class earn points u earn SC.

She was thinking of changing as she lost status with QF on 31 Jan and could earn Gold status faster with AA than Silver with QF. Strangely her QF FF account is still showing her status as Silver even though it has reset her SC to 0. Dont know if there is a lag in the system or if QF have gifted her Silver for another year?

After going backwards and forwards she has decided that using points for upgrades is more important to her than status and might stick with QF FF as she mostly flys QF long haul and loses the ability to upgrade if most of her points are with AA. Thanks again for the info. :)

Now if I can just get a nice AFFer flying out on QF9 to guest her into a lounge tomoro she would be a happy girl.
