Was trying to search CX HKG - KIX and seems like this option in PE is not available.
On the other hand, using the BA Avios engine shows up some interesting propositions.
Maybe I have to call the QFF centre and get copped a 5,000 point fee too?

Probably worth a call to QF. Asia Miles (CX program) lists the possibility of redeeming QF premium economy, so some (smallish?) chance exists for the reciprocal.

If you do call, let us know the result.

Happy wandering

i wouldnt waste points on PE for this sector as short haul PE is PE seat with Y service so just redeem it in Y and call CX to get an exit row - being a OWE you'll likely be bumped up to PE anyway as long as you check in at T-48

Sorry for being slightly OT:

Why does checking in at T-48 increase the chance to be bumped up to PE?

Is that the case with all Cathay flights, or just these short sectors?

Thanks!

Where flights are oversold operational upgrades are determined by elite status and BN/Check-In Sequence number (e.g. CX DM > CX GO > OWE > CX SL > OWS > OWR)

(this may change in future as CX moves to commercial rating for each pax)

My experience as a CX GO is almost 100% success in securing a PE seat on intra Asia flights if I can get BN1 by doing OLCI at T-48

That is very useful to know; thank you!

Let's hope it doesn't change.
