Hi guys,

Probably this thread is in the wrong section, so apologies for that.

I'm a QFF Silver and will reach gold by May and am considering a "AA status run" when I'm in the states in US in June.
Doing an trip around the US with AA in F (LAX-JFK (3 days) -DCA(transit only)-ORD (2 days) -MIA (3 days) -DFW(transit only)-LAX) costs about US$2k but yields 690 SCs. Amazing value compared to what you can get here in Oz.

So my question is: Would I eligible to use AA F lounges on the basis of my F domestic boarding pass alone ?

Transit time in Washington is almost 4 hours.

Thanks

Nizar

No. You need OneWorld Status or a paid member of the AA lounge or Qantas Club. Travel class alone doesn't cut it with AA (bit like Qantas up to a few years back)

There is the 30 day admirals club membership that's mentioned on AFF regularly. (Never mind, he'll be gold anyway)

To clarify your QF gold will get you access to the admirals club lounges but not the F lounges for your flights.

Cheers guys.
Will my QF Gold let me get a +1 into the admirals club lounge ?
My brother will be with me.

No. You need OneWorld Status

Which status ? The top of the pile Emerald ? Equiv to QF Plat ?

Also with OneWorld Status do you need to apply separately or is it once you are a QF Plat then you are automatically recognised as a OneWorld Emerald member ?

Also how long roughly do these AA SCs need to be reflected in my account ?

I know with QF flights its almost instant.

Cheers

If you are SG, then the AA business lounges will be available to you (known as "Admirals Clubs").

LAX-JFK if booked in F class would give access to the Flagship lounge in LAX before your flight.

Thanks for your reply serfty, I know you are one of the legends on here !

As I'm a pure newbie, can you please run me though/confirm the abbreviations you guys use for QF Silver, Gold and Plat
From what I gather so far

Silver is ??
Gold is SG
And Platinum is WP ?

What do SG and WP stand for exactly ?

Cheers

Is this the case even if the flight is not a direct flight (the one I'm thinking of booking is via ORD, not from my own choice - there is a scheduled stop-over).

Does JFK-LAX also give access to Flagship lounge in JFK ?

What other major routes out of JFK or LAX would give F lounge access ?

Thanks

As you would be SG, then the AA business lounges will be available to you (known as "Admirals Clubs").

LAX-JFK if booked in First class on a non stop transcontinental service would give access to the T4 Flagship lounge in LAX before your flight.

None of the other segments would qualify for Flagship lounge access.

Once you get Platinum status in QF, you are automatically oneworld emerald (green disc on the front of your QF card).

QF Gold and Platinum status give you access to the AA lounges (Gold gets access to Admirals [Business]; Platinum to Flagship [First]).

. . . Note there are only Flagship lounges in LAX, MIA & JFK.

Wasn't the F lounge in MIA closed permanently several years ago? I thought F (Flagship) lounges were in JFK, LAX, ORD and LHR.

Have they recently closed ORD Flagship Lounge?

When did MIA Flagship Lounge re-open?

Ahh, I see that edit ;)

Nizar, a tip - I see you plan to hit gold in May and then travel in June. If you don't get your Qantas gold card before go away you may have an issue where your AA boarding passes still say RUBY (QF Silver) instead of SAPPHIRE (QF Gold) and they won't let you into the Admirals Club. If this happens ask them to remove your FF number, readd it and then the boarding pass should display the correct status (Sapphire if you're Gold, or Emerald if you're Platinum)

Cheers Chris.
This will definately be the case as I will only hit Gold actually in early June and travel to the US just a few days later.

Thanks for the heads up.
