You must mean "transit", not "transient" ;)

You can take your checked luggage out during your transit in HKG. Since it is 24 hours, perhaps this would be a good chance to find a hotel in HKG, stay for 1 night and soak up a bit of the city?

Just make sure your bags are tagged to go to HKG (Hong Kong) instead of all the way to NGO (Nagoya). Then, claim your bags in HKG from the baggage claim. Of course, the next day you will need to check your bag in at the airport for your flight to NGO.

Re: Can I Take My Checked In Luggage Out During My Transient In Hongkong Airport??

When you check into your first flight you will need to discuss where your luggage is checked to.

If you stop for 24+ hours in HKG then almost certainly your luggage will only be checked to HKG and MUST be collected.

You will also need to meet HKG immigration requirements. I don't think they like people being airside for 24+ hours. This will depend on your passport's country of origin mostly.

I'm doing the same thing next week, fly into HKG, fly out 24 hours later (although it's for PVG)... I'd suggest finding a hotel, as you can easily go do things away from the airport in that time. You should be able to find quite a few very nice hotels for very few AU$, and it would certainly beat sitting around an airport for 24 hours...

Infact I'm also transiting HKG on the way back, and I only have a 9 hour stopover and yet I'm planning to leave the airport in that time...

How much does the one day pass cost :?:

The MTR is a very good system and personally I would probably buy the pass if I did not already have an Octopus Card.

Not expensive actually, only HK$ 55. But the thing is, it is d unlimited travel on MTR for 1 day except Airport Express, MTR Bus, East Rail Line First Class, Lo Wu and Lok Ma Chau stations.

Since i only have 24 hours, the places that i want to visit restricted to Mongkok and Tim Sha Tsui only.

I will travel from airport to Mongkok to check in and put all my goods.
After that, will head to Avenue of star to witness the symphony of hong kong. Then, go to Temple Street.

The next morning will take the Ding Ding Tram, and spend whole day in Ladies Street.

Or, do you have any advice for my trip to HongKong? Any must see attraction that i need to go???

Thanks so much.:)

For a quick trip like that you have included plenty already. The only part I would consider adding is a trip to the Peak.

The $HK55 for the ticket is only about $A8 so I would probably buy it for the sake of convenience.

Having stayed at Dragon Hostel in Sincere House recently I've now resolved never to stay in hostels again!

The staff were friendly but my single room was literally a cupboard without windows, after 3 days there I pretty much ran screaming to the Harbour Grand to recover;)

Yeah you should be ok for one night you may want to upgrade to a double room though, your hostel is in Sincere House too (1 level above the one I stayed in).

It's right near the shops and MTR, The ladies markets are just across the road and there is an electronics mall (mainly phones and gaming consoles )on the ground floor which is quite good, a few doors up past McDonald's is a multi-level mall for toys, models, games and collectibles which is interesting.

If you're taking a cab to get there try and get the address in Chinese, my cabbie didn't know what Sincere House was (quite painful at 6am in the morning after a red eye:!:). Although in other instances cabs would phone your destination if they weren't sure how to get there.

Ladies market is a midday to late night place... the street is quiet and empty until around 11am earliest and gets busier the later in the day.. best to do that on the night you arrive if you are going to the airport around noon..

I saw you mentioned about the ding ding tram, you realise that's over in Hong Kong island right? Not that it should be a concern, it's so fast to get around on the MTR.

As for smelly tofu, I love it, my better half don't.. give it a try, taste better than it smells...

Do you have any place/s recommend for visit from 9am to 12am? It is because I don't want to waste my day. (I planned to go to the peak in the morning. ):)

I often grab a bus (973 I think) which does a loop between Kowloon and Stanley Market. Like a little child I get on at one of the first stops (near Canton Road) and run up the stairs to get an up stairs front seat.

The windy roads through the hills are a hoot and the view quite good.

At $HK13 it a low cost hoot!
