maybe a silly question but never had this issue - I'm booked on 4 CX sectors in June (SYD-HKG-AMS vv). I'm a QFF WP and my FF nr is recorded on the booking but I can't see my booking on the QF website.
Flying in Y I would like to book best seat (any suggestions welcome for CX100/101 and CX 270/271) but unless I can do this on QF website would not know how.

Thanks

You need to do it through the CX website. Go to their manage booking section, log in using the CX PNR or E ticket number and you should be able to do seat selection.

As CX is now on Altea as well you should be able to add the CX booking in QF manage my booking with the reloc from what I have heard

Been able to do this on CX website bu tlooks like lot of "good" seats are blocked out - not sure if they make all available for selection unless you are a higher status with their Miles program. Will see if it pops up on QF website at some stage....

Cathay Pacific bookings have been showing on my bookings for a couple of months now.

And recently I booked a QF SYD-HKG-TPE return flight in economy with the HKG-TPE legs on CX. As soon as I made the booking seats were automatically allocated for the CX flights. From memory it was the 2nd or 3rd row in economy and from what I can see the only seats that were blocked were the bulkheads/bassinets or those seats actually allocated already.

Called CX to see if I can improve on seat selection and managed to score bulkhead on 747 as I was a "special" frequent flyer! ;)

It's a published benefit with CX, but you do have to call:

The Marco Polo Club Diamond, Gold and Silver, or
oneworld[SUP]®[/SUP] Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald members may reserve an Extra Legroom Seat free of charge.

Ruby? Nice. So with my PS I can ring up and get an extra legroom seat on my HKG-PEK O class booking?

Have to call CX now for any seat selection since they enhanced their system but as a OW elite you have the choice to do so.

Cannot hurt to try.

I was put on hold while she spoke to a supervisor and came back to me a few minutes later with the good news.

Also I remember on the QF site a while ago I selected seats on the QF legs and for CX/KA I was able to choose window or aisle as a preference. I checked today and for some reason my preferences had disappeared - repeated the exercise, and can now see that I've got 45H on the 744 CX HKG-PEK and 25G on the KA A330 PEK-HKG. Will ring up later to see if I can do any better.

Does anyone know if this has changed? I'm on a QF ticketed CX flight from BKK to HKG and the CX website won't let me select seats (I can't even log into my booking on the CX website). I rang QF but they thought that I could only get my seats sorted at the airport.

My challenge is I'm flying with my 4yr old and he's seated 2 rows behind me.

any thoughts? Do I just need to ring CX (tried today but gave up after waiting for ages)

It must have changed a couple of weeks ago. I was able to select my seat on a J CX classic award, but just this week have seen on the QF website that seat selection isn't available. My original seat selection is still showing thankfully but I just can't change it.

Try doing it through 'Manage Your booking' on the QF website, that usually works for me.
Though If you're on one of the cheaper enonomy fares, seat selection may not be available until OLCI.
Worst case, I'm sure they'll sort it out at the airport.

I was trying to do it through Qantas and it is no longer an option. It was Business class.

I can't even select isle or window on QF MYB. It's an "L" class fare booked on Expedia.BR. I can select my QF seats however. Side note, the SYD-BKK flight is a 747 but the Y seats include PE seats - so good - got us in the front row in PE seats

you just need the cx record locator and then go in through manage booking. alternatively, you may get an 'notifly' email from cx 48 hours prior to departure that will let you change seats as part of the check in process.

i have just completed 6 flights with cx and all of them were straightforward to get seats.

as an aside... exit rows can now be selected on line and it gives some message about confirming your eligibility... but this is usually only a second or two and the seats are secured. it he system seems to pick up your one world status and give the seats foc.

Thanks MEL_Traveller, I found out today that because it is booked on a QF ticket you cannot do it on the CX website because of recent changes so you can no longer do it online on the CX website. I gave CX a call and it was sorted within 3 minutes. Bulkhead front row of Y. Was hoping for an exit row but a 4 year old is not eligible for exit as per normal.

cheers

I did it via the QF portal as my flights populated my QF FF profile.
