Can a SQ J-redemption with a long layover be a Stopover?

This is a confusing thread. Regardless of what the website may let one book as a redemption, anything over 24 hours is not a transit or layover. According to IATA regs, it's a stop. I believe it's unlikely they would allow a luggage through-check with a stop. You will likely be required to take your luggage with you. If they actually let you book this route, the check-in agent will issue a boarding pass for the first flight only. I don't believe they can even check you in for the second flight so far in advance.

I would not depend on Krisflyer staff to know the correct answer to this. They are barely trained to make reservations. You may need a supervisor, if you can get one on the line (they don't like to put you through), to give you correct info regarding the forced stopover.

Enjoy Singapore...

My thoughts were around being able to gain a >24 hours stopover at Singapore while booking a one way Saver fare. That idea fails. Even though the SQ website may offer a combination of flights which can be selected at Saver rates the next stage of the online booking brings about an advisory message that at least one sector has to be a 'standard' redemption.
