I have a weird situation next week where I'm taking my daughter to the airport at 8am for her flight, and then I leave at 6pm on my flight. I'm flying MEL to BNE on QF and am a QF club member.

My intention is to go the QF club at about 8:30am, work for the day in the club and then get on my flight at 6pm. I live a couple of hours from the airport so driving home and back is impractical.

Anyone done this before? Is this something I'm ok to do? I don't think I'm breaking any rules as my flight legitimately leaves on the same day... just many hours later on the same day.

Thanks

I don't see any problem with this. I have done similar in the past in SYD (although I didn't stay quite that long). As long as you are legitimately entitled to lounge access and have a same-day boarding pass, you'll be fine.

If you have access to the lounge you can stay for as short or as long as you like.

Ditto - I've done the same over the past several years, at different QP's around the country. At least Brisbane is a decent lounge to work/wait in

Is there anything in the QP's T&C's about a time limit. I've had a man look and couldn't see anything

It may be a bit obvious given the state of the Melbourne club right now - it's smaller than normal. Maybe I'll change my flight.

Thanks all for your comments.

6.5 or 7 hrs is a bit obvious.

Confused what you mean by this. OP is well within their rights to spend all day in the lounge if they are eligible to enter. There is no time limit.

There’s absolutely not a problem with staying in the lounge most of the day!

I don't think you need to change your flight! There's no time limit, just same day departure required :)

Yeah-nah ... you're all good.

I woke up one morning to find I'd slept through my alarm ... and it was exactly 55 minutes to push-back,

I made the plane and on arrival in Canberra I walked straight to the lounge, showed my boarding pass for the last flight back to Sydney that day, and announced "I need a shower".

I got no argument.

3 hrs in ADL QP and they have never come looking for be.

Maybe it's OK.

Not obvious at all.

OP may be transitting. QF don't know where from. I've been stuck in SCL lounge for 9 hours once. Although about 6 of that was in the sleeping room. Same situation as OP, as long as you have a BP for that day, no one knows where you have come from or cares, really.

Maybe it’s an ADL thing .... or perhaps a Poochie thing.

Often when I do day trips somewhere I'll often use the QP as an arrivals lounge. That's a good 10 or 11 hours before my return flight.

You won't have any issues at all.

A few years ago, I flew HEL-LHR-DXB-LHR-HKG-NRT-SIN-PER-MEL (when QF still had double daily PER-SIN A330s and LHR flights via BKK and HKG) without stop overs. 3 days of flights. I ended up sleeping overnight in the SkyView lounge in SIN.
Another trip, I spent 9 hours in the LHR T3 BA lounge.
Have spent 6+ hours in the QR J DOH lounge twice. (The night of the 2016 US election, I had a 15 hour connection in the lounge)
Would have been quite happen to spend a day in the EK DXB A F lounge after a misconnect and 24 hour delay until QF insisted on giving me a hotel.

Shouldn't be a problem. But personally I'd use the lounge for a bit for essentials (food, drink, bathroom, charging) then get out and find somewhere quiet and/or get some fresh air. Then repeat.

I find an empty gate preferable to a domestic lounge more and more these days. Even the J lounges.
