Caltex Starcard - 10 000 points to sign up

I have now received my second monthly statement from Caltex. The first month they didnt charge any fee, the second month they have charged $2.60 per car. No sign of the 10,000 points yet though.... Anyone got their points yet?.... As soon as I get mine, the Starcard is going to be cancelled, not worth the $2.60 pm.

I got billed $10.20 for some reason which I wasn't too happy about. Card Fee $4.95, RSA fee $5.25. Might have to call them and of course will be the idea reason for cancelling when the points hit.

Will be interested to know when the points hit, been over 2 months for me and nothing.

Just rang them. Seems I must have accidentally added a couple of extras on when I applied. Oh well.

Asked when the points will credit and she said within 90 days so looking at another month. She specifically said they take the full 90 days so that people don't apply, get the points and then cancel immediately. It was like she read the collective minds of this forum! :D

I did consider the extras, such as roadside assist, but have been slack to find out more details about the service. Compared to the RACQ website there's not a lot of information on it.

My points have hit the business rewards account. Faster than expected too which is always nice. Time to cancel. :D

Just checked and I have received my points too.

Considering keeping the card for a bit longer as I've set it to pay with my AMEX, essentially giving me a long window to pay off fuel purchases. First month on the Starboard, second on the CC.

Got around to cancelling this morning. Pretty painless process. No real attempt to get me to keep the card other than asking why I'm cancelling. Just said I can get petrol cheaper at other places in the area I usually fill up.

Looks like the offer has returned, and then some:

Sign up for a StarCard until 30 September 2017 to go into the draw to win free fuel for a year for your business (worth $20,000)[SUP]~[/SUP]. You'll also enjoy 10,000 bonus Qantas Points and up to 1 Qantas Point for every litre of fuel[SUP]^[/SUP].

Enjoy savings of 4c per litre on Premium fuel, 2c per litre on regular fuel, 10% on engine oils and 5% on most in store purchases. All for a low monthly fee of $2.95 per card.

^To earn 10,000 bonus Qantas Points, between 14 August 2017 and 30 September 2017 Qantas Business Rewards Members must; (a) apply and successfully open a Caltex StarCard account and (b) link their Caltex StarCard with their Qantas Business Rewards Account and c) spend a minimum of $300 on their StarCard account within the first 3 months of the account being opened. Businesses that already hold a Caltex StarCard Account are not eligible for this offer.

Looks like they've added a requirement to spend a min of $300 on the card this time. Must have been too many of us cancelling without spending a cent. ;)

Maybe you can buy WISH/other gift cards?

The spend requirement doesn't really bother me as I have to buy fuel anyway. The thing stopping me going again is the credit check they do. I didn't anticipate that last time. I'd prefer to save the checks for decent CC signup offers. YMMV.

Personally I reckon it's not a bad deal.
4 cents per litre discount on premium fuel plus the QFF points. Only need to buy 75 litres per month to break even and I have linked with my Qantas C/C so another point per dollar
