Cabbie grabs groceries to cover fare - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)
"A Sydney man says a taxi driver went into his house and took groceries in order to cover an unpaid cab fare."

Sounds quite reasonable to me! The passenger claims $30 worth of groceries were taken, which sounds quite reasonable for a cab ride in Sydney, plus he can buy more at Woolies and get QFF points :D Win win!

I certainly wouldn't be whinging to the cops about how I had some rice "stolen" when I tried to take a cab with no money.

Forgot all his PIN numbers, huh? How convenient!

Seems like a reasonable response from the cabbie to me.

Maybe I am stating the obvious but it all seems a bit weird. If he had forgotten his PIN for his debit and credit cards. Yet if he had a credit card then he could have just signed for it.

It seems like he agreed to give the driver the food as a payment, then had second thoughts about it later once he realised he did not get such deal.

My dad once took a surf board as payment from a backpacker he dropped off at the international airport. Unfortunately, I never got to use it as mum sold it shortly after he died. :( :(

I won't mention some of the payments I've been offered. More sad stories there. :( ;)

Wish I could get a cab for a bag of supermarket shopping, sounds like a good deal to me. I just hope the cabbie got some decent food and not a bag of junk.
