Cab, Uber or Train from JFK to Times Square?

Because the cab fare is flat rate from JFK, expect to be waiting a while for the cab. The cab drivers don't like going there. After our plane landed, the cabs came along in drips and drabs, unlike every other airports where there are hundreds there waiting for you.

After we got used to the Subway system, we decided to use it to get out of New York and make our way to Penn Station to an Amtrak train. All went well till we tried to get out of the subway station with our heavy luggage, and the elevator was out of action. No signs indicating where to go now. Luckily a lady passing by helped us out, showing us the long walk out of there in the right direction.
Regards,
Renato

I decided to book a limo when we landed at JFK. Yes it took an hr to get to manhattan but after 2 long flights to get there the last thing i wanted to do was lug 4 bags to the train station and mess around getting a train. We relaxed with an ale while the driver gave us a bit of an impromptu tour.
Maybe something to consider if youve had a long haul and how you may feel when you touch down at JFK.

From memory our 'car' (which turned out to be a limo...car = town car = limo), our hotel hired for us from Times Sq to JFK was about USD70 flat excl tip

$250 australian. It was a stretch limo, and it was pretty fun. My 6 year old blew his stack when he saw it so well worth it for me.

As long as you had fun that is the main thing. Get the lugging bags on the train thing.

If you go back again maybe look at a driver car via dial seven or other providers. Towncars, SUVs etc all can manage 4-5 checked size bags + hand luggage for up to 4 pax.

Price for JFK to Manhattan is regulated USD60-70 should be a good guide.

This thread could easily turn in to a spin off, eg. How much to pay for hot dogs from the vendor stands, how much for a cart ride around Central Park etc. Do not get me wrong I love NYC but like every other major tourist destination the locals are pretty good at picking the tourist from within the US and when we start to talk (without a NY accent) the price goes up further.
