COPS!
Wait, did I say that out aloud?
Yep I do love that show. :D

Well, if we're stooping that low, Border Security and Airline (the pommy show based in Luton and Manchester).

(I always thought their accents sounded great until I had to work with a woman from that region. There's only so many "I know, I know"'s you can tolerate in a lifetime and mine were depleted within the first two weeks.)

I'm up in Liverpool atm, so I can resemble that remark ;)

Thanks ever so much guys - there are a couple of suggestions I will follow up - I just love the way the AFF brotherhood (and sisterhood) spring to life at any request - what a fabulous site.

Burn Notice
The starting series of The Bill, really fun to sit back and reminiss
Magnum PI
Bear Gorilla and Man Vs Wild
Larry Sanders show, great send-up of US late night talk shows
Frontline A great send-up of Aus current affairs shows
+1 for mention of Spooks and Boston Legal

+1 for both Boston Legal and Burn notice...
Also haven't seen anyone suggest Simpsons as yet.

I also vote for Spooks and Dexter.

How about
- Sherlock series with Benedict coughberbatch and Martin Freeman
- The Shadow Line. Only 7 episodes but excellent.
- The Tudors
- Rome

If you don't mind foreign productions and subtitles, there are some great series being produced such as:
- Braquo
- Spiral
- Those Who Kill
- The Killing

The Killing original Danish version not the US version - they screwed it up again. Or you need to see both versions to appreciate the differences.

Sent from the Throne

"Cracker" with Robbie Coltrane. As a series it had everything. Great cast, writers, tension, crime, black humour.

And on black humour, The Green Wing

The OP has most of the shows I like - along with walking dead.

Strike back isn't too bad, a pommie military show (guns, explosions and 'adult themed situations' - which may be NSF flights)

For plane trips, I can highly recommend White Collar. Currently up to season 4, so you've got plenty of episodes to watch.

You might like Weeds, similar to breaking bad only with more humor. Family Guy seasons 1 - 10, no in depth analysis required which is great for long haul flights. Other than that you've covered all the series on my HD.

Nearly forgot any doco's from Louis Theroux (BBC). He covers some great topics.

Some additions frequent long distance fliers might like to take along with them:

House of Cards - Kevin Spacey - brilliant on many levels.

Longmire - I come from the country so bit of a hay seed.

Magic City - just loved this - how it was canned after 2 seasons has me beat.

Scandal - won't be everybody's cup of tea but I think it got better the further it went.

Southland - not new but very watchable.

The Bridge - certainly makes you ask 'do these deals really get done'?

Vegas - typically American but this is the notion of Vegas I love.

Special mention to Homeland - 'the most vomitous American drivel ever concocted' - IMHO of course.
