Butter matters [Danish Lurpak on board]

Well I think that there is a Lurpak sales rep amongst us who has weaved their magic and will see all of us buying some of this butter to see what all the fuss is about. So who is it ? Fess up.

I am Lurpak!

As long as it's actually butter and not the revolting Lurpak Spreadable I'm happy.
They had a nice French product in SYD F lounge this morning.

This thread has gotten me a hankering for AFF members to stop wasting valuable time and resources on the most incosequential matter I have seen in an eternity - AND RATHER - get back to some important matters such as new / better ways to get me more regular pointy end travel via FF pts harvesting where I can to enjoy / detest Lurpak / Western Star or whatever butter any airline cares to dish up.

Au contraire! (is that a defacto vote for French Butter? Non!) The source of origin of onboard Butter, along with the absence or otherwise of Sourdough bread is quite clearly The Greatest Inflight Culinary Challenge of Our Timeand one that none of us can afford to be complacent about.

It's just the start of the slippery slope; The next thing you know, Schweppes mixers will be gone, and before you know it, we'll all be eating Suimin two minute noodles - even though the damn QF planes won't be stopping over in either HKG or SIN....

I beg to differ my friend - IMHO this mutter - sorry - matter pales into insignificance to the culinary disasters that beset SQ F pax - you guys seriously do not know what a problem is until you have downed 2 to 3 botts Krug and then try to apply WHITE pepper to your meal - HTF can you see where WHITE pepper lands on your tucker - hell you could miss the plate altogether and be none the wiser - SQ - FFS please change to BLACK pepper and boot the WHITE pepper - as Croc Dundee would say - 'now that is a problem'!

I would like to admit it was me using reverse psychology but since I lack TonyHancock's special powers, unfortunately that's not true.

Nonetheless 80 AFFers 'like' the thread so that proves that butter does indeed matter, particularly if it's Devondale or Western Star (although the latter is owned by our Kiwi cousin Fonterra if I recall).

I would have duly considered your newly acquired KQ Spectacles .. would have 'enhanced" your vision justifiably enough to distinguish the 'coloured" pepper.:mrgreen:

No 80 AFFers have liked posts in the thread. There are a significant number of posts that question the location and value of this thread. It would be interesting to do an analysis, but I would guess that the likes are most in favour of removing this thread to the playground or even further. In fact, my quick review just now shows at least 30 likes to posts that seem to reject the premise of the OP. There are probably another 10-15 likes for puns and jokes.

Got told off in a QP one day for doing that, apparently some people put it on there and forget it. I was threaten with having to clean off melted plastic.

Placed a sachet on top this morning whilst chatting to a nice agent........beautifully spreadable and enhanced the Vegemite to extra delicious status.

It may well have been Greek butter...
Meaning? Some of the best butter I have tasted is Greek butter. Real butter, not margarine. I really miss the days when grandma used to make fresh butter at home in the village. I have never encountered anything that comes close to that taste.

P.S Lurpak margarine does not spread if it has been refrigerated. The Meadow Lea margarine in the lounges is much better.

hmm, pretty sure it's not posted as a blight on the National ability of Greece to churn butter.

I think it's more to do with a certain scene in a movie that mentioned up thread.

There have been two letters in consecutive weeks in 'The Age' and 'Sydney Morning Herald' travel sections re how QF serves foreign (Danish Lurpak) butter in its lounges or onboard:

Traveller Letters | September 14, 2013

I am not a protectionist but given that the Australian dairy industry is unsubsidised and the Danish one (plus elsewhere in Europe) is heavily supported by the EU, isn't it about time QF bought its butter portions from an Australian or NZ manufacturer such as Murray Goulburn or Fonterra?

I have a sneaking suspicion that VA may also use Lurpak butter on its flights, but cannot definitively recall.

Another thread for you to bash QF...

By anyway chance OP are you a rep a for VA or some airline?

I complain about Qantas enough regarding certain matters but if I took a statistical analysis of all your posts and threads you started since you joined in June 2013 (~4months), I would come to the conclusion you have a bias against Qantas.

Let's not be hasty in that regard.

There are enough people here, already on this topic alone, who have a deep-seated hate of Qantas and/or Alan Joyce. We know they cannot possibly be all working for the competition, or be employed as "anti-shills".

Since the QF butter supply was brought to my attention, my intensive research has shown that 100% of my QF flights have served Western Star butter in the cabin to which I am accustomed to traveling. And 100% of Australian QF lounges served Western Star butter while 100% of overseas lounges served Anchor NZ butter. I am yet to see this danish spread that has been mentioned????

I can't remember what butter is served in QF Y. I know in QF domestic J, it is Lurpak.

International J again I'm unsure, as it's unwrapped and "plated" when it comes to the table. And of course, it's even harder to guess the butter for ex-Australia flights vs. to-Australia flights.

In the QP I'm pretty sure it's Meadow Lea. In the domestic and international J lounges, I'm unsure.
