Business travel to UK?

I'm vaccinated and I want to attend an annual industry recruitment fair in London in October this year. It's the main source of overseas workers for our business and certainly "essential" to my mind. However, I fear the government will deem it non-essential. How are other frequent international flyers going getting permission to fly?

Maybe write to the PMs office and ask for a copy of his reasons for needing to travel to the UK to attend the G7 summit which AU is not a member of. The PM obviously through that this was 'essential' in his mind.

I think many people would be prepared to do 14 days of quarantine if it meant they could see their family overseas.

Sure - but you have to remember the recent returnee from India who left a quarantine hotel in Adelaide and then caused the 4th shutdown in Melbourne...

He did nothing wrong. He was released at 14 days being negative. And caught the virus from a US traveller in the hotel. Unlike the 60 year old man living here who has caused the current Sydney crisis.

I'm not suggesting he did anything wrong, but stuff happens as we all know, and the more exemptions the more chance of it happening more frequently.

I would suggest that tax payer funding would be involved in almost everything the PM does. After all, his job is 24/7. Snide remarks don’t add much to the commentary.

I'm currently waiting for my exemption request outcome. Submitted friday. Same reason as you but travelling to the states. I'm also fully vaccinated. Will let you know how it goes.

Five tips:
1. Get a letter, on official letterhead from a senior person at an Australian business that already has operations overseas, indicating that you personally need to go, and have their backing to do so.
2. Link your business overseas, if possible, to efforts to combat COVID or to help the recovery of Australia from the ill effects of the pandemic.
3. Indicate that you will be away for three months - as trips of this duration have some priority. (But you can change plans once away.)
4. Do not list destinations that suggest leisure or recreational travel.
5. Avoid mentioning any family connections overseas - unless (rightly) going because of severe illness in an immediate family member.

There is a story breaking this morning that he did some sight seeing on his own accord as well.... Terrible look....

Agree with this but for overseas work consent there isn't any need to state you will be away for 3 months.

Also if you sign a stat dec saying you will be gone for 3 months (needed for the 3+ month exemption) and come back early, there is possible fine/jail time.
