My first post. Value any assistance
Travelling Australia - Paris in May with Qantas/BA on business class (company paying). Only Bronze status currently. Wishing to take my wife (also Bronze status). There are no business flights available using points directly. Spoken with Qantas reps over phone. First I was told that if I book a super saver fare for my wife there will be a 80% chance of a successful upgrade to Business using points , especially if I aim for mid week fare at this time of year. This was even in spite of our low FF status. Price of ticket was 2600 +(super saver) versus 1600+ (sale). I rang again for further details but second rep sounded far less confident. Value any thoughts you expert folk may have

Welcome to AFF!

Take note that upgrading with QFF points is a lottery at the best of times and you won't know until a day before the flight if the upgrade is successful. As a bronze you will be well down the upgrade list even on midweek flights.. And then there is no guarantee QF will process points upgrades for all flights even if there are business class seats available.

Personally I would not spend $1,000 more on an airfare just for the chance to enter the upgrade lottery.

Why don't you split value and both go premium W+??

Some places are funny about those things, maybe yours isn't?

No guarantees with upgrades. Be prepared to fly in the class paid for.
