We are off to London next year in July/August.

I have enough QF points to get us to either SIN or HongKong return in J and would then need to buy a return to LHR.

I have tried signing up to BA and Cathay for their sales but haven't had any luck with information about good fares to London.

Does anyone know of any good web sites that i could input some details about the flights I was looking for and be informed if a sale was happening.

The alternative is to not use points and wait for a Qantas sale.

Thanks for any help with this.

You will only be able to book about 11 months out, so wait until August/September this year before starting to look. By then BA/CX should have started filling your inbox with offers. Make sure you have your preferences set to receive offers via email with each of them.

Easy to install and operate, this 10 in 1 lens kit can be used on your Smartphone.

The kit includes a 198 degree fisheye lens, 0.63x wide angle lens, 15x Macro lens, a super wide angle lens, 0.36X , 2x telephoto lens , Kaleidoscope Lens plus a circular polariser lens, star filter lens, flow filter lens.

Thank you for your suggestions.

I do have emails sent from CX and BA but the flights always originate from Australia and I wish to book from either Hongkong or Singapore so therefore need the flight offers from there. Do you know how I can do this?

I would appreciate any help with this.

If you can position to BKK, Finnair have a LHR return fare (via HEL) for just over $3k year round. BA slightly more expensive. QF coming in at $4k using Emirates A380s via DXB.

I receive CX emails for BKK - I remember signing up for their emails from the TH site, and now I get all their specials as such, based on my being in TH. Possibly you could do the same - sign up from the HKG or SIN versions and see what happens.

It automatically detects where you're based on CX (via your ISP), but you can change if you want to - it does give you that option.

$3400 will get you J with MH all the way to CDG and back using their points plus pay from Australia, kind of makes positioning expensive!

Thanks to everyone for all your suggestions. Always such a lot of people happy to share their vast knowledge. What a great forum this is.

I will research what you have said so I am well prepared to do the booking in a few months.

The best value will be to go for one of the OW carries that doesn't operate HKG-LHR direct - BA and CX run high load factors in J so sale fares will be difficult to find.

I would be looking at QR, MH or Finnair

if you are already in Singapore (or even bangkok) Sri Lankan airlines has an excellent business class fare (with full flat beds from Colombo onwards) for around $2000. full points accrual to qantas. connection times in Colombo are just a few hours, and if you can fly to Paris the fare is even cheaper as it escapes the uk luxury departure tax.

I do wish to fly Oneworld as we need the SCs to maintain Gold.

I guess we are not looking at getting to LHR on the cheapest option, more like getting the best deal on a direct flight with BA or CX. We are non too young now so comfort and ease are important factors.

Join Enrich, they give you a sign on bonus.

Straying off topic now, apologies, but with Enrich is the User ID 7 digits or 9 ?
I'm having trouble logging in.
There is a 7 digit number in the subject of my welcome to Enrich email, and inside the body of the email a Membership number. Which of these is the User ID they ask for when you login ?
Neither seem to be working for me.

Cheers

D Class will credit to QF too!

I see it books into D. But when you book there is no option to add a QFF number. Maybe can be done later?

And in the Enrich T&Cs it states:
1. Enrich Members will not accrue Enrich Miles for the following services; Enrich Awards, rural air services and industry discounts (P/U/I/E/G/X/T class), agency discounts, group fares (G class), special promotion fares, student fares, redemption tickets, charter flights (MH 4000 series) and joint services.

17. Member will NOT earn miles for the cash value paid of the Cash plus Miles redemption.

So maybe no QFF points. But QFF status credits?

if you can't earn points you can't earn SCs.
