My husband and I travel quite regularly to the US (2-3 times a year) but usually in economy or sometimes premium economy. I have a significant birthday coming up toward the end of the year and have decided that this time we are going business class. I know nobody has a 'crystal ball' but based on historical data/trends what sales does anyone expect to come up and what is generally the lowest the fares go. We are currently Velocity Gold but will probably drop back to silver at the end of May, and only bronze with Qantas (though may make it to silver after flights to Africa in May). We are looking to travel to the US around the middle of November, Air New Zealand currently has a business fare (return bne to lax,) for $5,500, do they drop lower than this and what are peoples opinions of the Air New Zealand business premier product? Many thanks in advance.

Have you looked at Air Pacific (Fiji Airlines)?

If you get yourself to PNH, you can get PNH-LAX return for around $2k with MH

Further to my last post here is a typical flight:

Nadi (NAN), Fiji
Sat, 02 Nov, 22:00
Los Angeles International (LAX), United States Of America
Sat, 02 Nov, 12:15
FJ810

Boeing 747-400.
Los Angeles International (LAX), United States Of America
Wed, 20 Nov, 21:30
Nadi (NAN), Fiji
Fri, 22 Nov, 05:30
FJ811

View Baggage and Optional Charges.
Total Air Fare: 3,641.50 FJD
Total Payable
3,641.50 FJD

That's $2000 return in J, just need to add the NAN Australia flights.

Thanks for your advice, appreciate it. We usually fly direct from bne to lax as we like to get there as quickly as possible (we have a business that we can only leave for 3 weeks max at a time). My preferred carriers would be Qantas or Virgin Australia but would look at the ANZ product as the connection is not too bad. Would you say that $5,500 price is a good deal or are VA or Qantas likely to do something similar? Also looking for an aircraft with a fully lay flat bed, are all the Qf 747's out of bne refurbished yet?

Warning: once you travel J you will never want to go back to Y/PE.

We go to NYC each year and fly J on QF. We go in Sept/Oct and usually find cheap fares come out in late Jan/early Feb, which they did this year. About $13k for the two of us is the best J fare on QF I've seen.
