I had an old plane a few weeks ago from Gold Coast to Sydney. The business class seat was the same size as an economy one and they just put a drinks thing in the middle seat.

Not quite the same size, it's actually a bit wider, the armrests on the middle seat move inward as the tray table is lowered. (The same concept as convertible J class seats on the QF 737-400 and Ansett 737s back in the day).

It wasn't a 700 was it? There is certainly at least one 700 getting around painted white with the recovered (grey upholstery) old PE seats, L2A IFE and no purple divider. I was on it on Saturday, but it was out of ROK and DJ were certainly not selling J on that flight!

There was no purple divider and I think the airline staff were sitting directly opposite row 1A

Got an email from Guest Relations after lodging a complaint a month ago about getting a rogue aircraft, they've refunded a credit of the difference between the J fare and the lowest flexi fare.
