So, did you get your 50% refund?

No. As this was in reference to a flight already taken, I was advised to take it up with Guest Relations, so I have put in the complaint and am awaiting a response (and will report back on the outcome).

To be frank, a 50% refund would not be an acceptable offer to me as compensation, as if we had known before boarding that we were not getting proper J we would have insisted upon either;
a. a change of flight to one with proper J, or
b. a J flight with Qantas at Virgin's expense, or
c. a full refund and we would have changed to a Qantas J flight.

We simply would not have accepted a PE seat.

Just booked for a status run tomorrow (Sat 28/1)

SYD-BNE-MKY-SYD

SYD-BNE - DJ909 - 0700-0730 (737-800) 1A
BNE-MKY - DJ605 - 0855-1025 (737-700) 2A
MKY-SYD - DJ1472 - 1350-1705 (737-800) 1A

Looks like its going to be a big breakfast morning , with early visits to both the Sydney & Brisbane Lounges & 2 flights, followed by lunch in the Mackay Lounge & flight back to Sydney . I think Im going to have to pace myself somewhat.

Let me know if anyone is going to be in any of the Lounges and keen to meet.

Sydney Lounge 6.00-6.30
Brisbane Lounge 7.30-8.30
Mackay Lounge 11.30-1.30

Currently sitting in J on DJ909 . Only PAX in J up to BNE ...... Let the run begin !

Live2Air not working - That's acceptable, as weather can cause lots of interruptions to this

Just to clarify, it was working in the sense that programs were showing (rather than the "we've lost the signal" message you sometimes get) but there was that much static and interference that you could barely make out what was on screen. Was like it for the majority of the flight. I took a shot of the screen across the aisle.

I was seated in 2C so I didn't have a L2A screen but I did have the Ludicrous-Amounts-of-Legroom[SUP]TM[/SUP] from having the Row 1 seats removed, but it was kinda hard to appreciate on a short flight like SYD-MEL.

I haven't received an email or phone call from them so I've sent an email. Wait and see.

Now booked.
Showing the 737-800.
Fingers crossed.
Will report back.

In contrast with all the disappointed travelers, I gave full points to Virgin on my first Business Class trip with them.
No change of aircraft. Smooth and quick check in ( with luggage, as I am continuing on o/s), sparlkling interior. Two rows of J, then a divider.
As we boarded, the FA was a little confused as my SO was seated in row3, while I was in 1A.
A few minutes later, the FS appeared and asked if I would like my partner moved to 1B. (I did think about it for a moment.....)
Had he not moved, I may have been a little lonely, as I was the only Biz passenger!
Pleasant meal, with a choice of green prawn curry or pasta salad, plus dessert, warm roll with oil and dukkah, wine etc.
Very polite and efficient service.
Being called for the next flight now. QF this time!

Just had the entire J Cabin to myself flying from SYD-MKY on a BSI Aircraft!. Love the look of the new BSI's and the seat was not to bad for a 2.5 hour flight.

However left Sydney at around 12pm and arrived into Mackay at 1320 local yet the meal served was not lunch but infact a "Morning Snack" Very very confusing, but ended up with a great crew who kept doting on me the entire flight. Could not fault them at all.

The Cranberry Cookie they serve onboard, ask the crew to warm it up for you... dear god YUMMMMMM

This Double SC promo is about to end, it started when a previous one (J and Y) ended.

Anyone got any thoughts on if there is going to be another one soon. Was there one in August last year? I can't find on the search.

Q seem to have a few targeted promos like this to specific members and specific routes, so there is a possible chance VA could do to if they have photocopied the playbook.

The Matched-Staus members should start expiring August-October if those members havent ramped up their SC's on VA.

Perhaps there will be another Double SP Promo around Aug? If not earlier? Perhaps in the winter?

Flew HBA-BNE and BNE-CNS on Sunday. Tickets were booked separately as the J fare HBA -CNS was about double that to book as separate flights. They had not updated these from premium economy fares yet.

Had J all to myself on 737-800 HBA-BNE and 737-700 BNE-CNS. Had a phone call 2 days before the flights to tell me that the 737-700 had not yet been upgraded and hence they would refund the difference between what I had paid and a fully flexible fare. A whole $57.

I had full J service all to myself on both flights and the undivided attention of a couple of lovely cabin attendants. The only thing that I don't like are the personal entertainment units, but I don't generally watch much any way. The music on them I think is cough.

All in all with over 17000 points and 240 status credits it was a nice little earner.

Flew PER-SYD-MEL on Monday in J on a points upgrade, total points cost was same as direct flight 9,900 and thought I would sample both the A332 and 73H J product and only had a half hour in SYD. A332 was fantastic, well polished J service as you would expect. Got to Sydney and there was no AC at the my onward flights gate so then I knew something was up. Went straight to the gate and was told half hour delay on inbound AC, went to lounge, got them to change my seat and hung out for 20 mins.

Went back to gate and as was boarding was advised that the service was on a 73G service with no J class, was told point would be refunded to my account as compensation. I accepted the inevitable and didn't put up a fight. On board no J food just what ever I wanted off the cart and a bottle of water. I was a bit peeved the Lounge staff didn't advise me that the AC had changed when I changed my seat, they could potentially have offered to put me on a later service, they also may not have known as the AC had not arrived.

So today go to check my Velocity account and see this:
29 Feb 1227 Feb 12Perth -Melbourne401,4757382,213
28 Feb 1228 Feb 12Guest Relations Goodwill002,4502,450
25 Feb 1225 Feb 12UPGRADE ZONE 30-9,9000-9,900

I am very curious as to how they got the number 2,450 as a refund of points, what sort of forumla do they have for this situation? Has anyone had J service on one leg of a points upgrade and not on another. Should I be asking for more, or is this reasonable? Any thoughts on the matter

That is exactly the same as the transaction which appeared on my account for a 737-700 flight HBA MEL last week.

I'm thinking of using this offer as well but I want to make sure I'm getting the new planes where the business class is separated by the purple plastic wall rather than the older planes in which the business class seat is just the same size as the economy seats.

How does one determine whether you will get a new plane or not?

Thanks in advance.

Ahh, really? I thought there were still a few rogue planes left .... are their seatmaps now standard regardless?

I had an old plane a few weeks ago from Gold Coast to Sydney. The business class seat was the same size as an economy one and they just put a drinks thing in the middle seat.

What did the booking engine/seatmap on the web show you before you got this plane? A standard J config?

It wasn't a 700 was it? There is certainly at least one 700 getting around painted white with the recovered (grey upholstery) old PE seats, L2A IFE and no purple divider. I was on it on Saturday, but it was out of ROK and DJ were certainly not selling J on that flight!
