What type of aeroplane. On aeroplanes such as the 777 , it is definitely worth it

If it is something like a A320, then probably not

Well they managed to get into Star Alliance!!!

Cant be that bad. Never flown them myself. J class status for as you say - little money, could be a good deal there if you do your homework

Egtair biz class? Hmmm - the seats on the A330 are supposed to be ok - recliners with about 60 inch pitch (but no flat or even 'lie-flat').

On the 777 the F and C seats are the same, but C is 2+3+2 instead of 2+2+2, and of course C has much less recline and footrest is pretty poor. Seat pitch on the 777 in C is 42 inches (F is 62).

On the A320/B737 biz class WAS (as in three years ago) well worth it... big wide comfy seats (think USA domestic First class) and ok legroom, compared with a very cramped 30 inches in economy. Not sure if they have changed that given Dave noble's comments?

On some aircraft I know MS employs the regional european model for C class - like their 757 used to be 3+3 economy seating with the middle seat left free.

Their small jets - the ERJs have no difference between C and Y seating.

For domestic flights C class gets you a meal appropriate to the time of day - and after we waited for three hours to get on (check-in etc etc) it was certainly appreciated!

My mention of A320 may have been the wrong model.... I know that they use some aeroplane types with seats basically no better than economy. On a 777 , I would choose business class over their economy and have used their 1st class for an exciting flight
