The number of flights with only 1 passenger in J class continues to amaze me... Well not really but it's not good to keep hearing that

We had 50% pax in J on the flight to SYD and recently my flights have been 75% to 100% full in J. Out of the last 10 I have only had 2 where I was the only one.

I have been wondering whether a bit of that has been due to the 50% VP offer. I know it has certainly been a factor in opening up my VP chequebook! I guess we'll see if it drops off to any degree after it wraps up.

You are probably right whilst I fly majority of my flights in J I dont normaly fly OOL to SYD in J as it is overpriced at $429 using points for an upgrade and it only being 2450 points to upgrade with Double SC it was worth it for $179 for J with 40SC and 1790 points but I always fly J OOL to MEL as it is only $509, $80 more for double the distance and J from OOL to ADL is only $608. We do have some good J fares ex OOL though just not to SYD or PER

Let's pick MEL-SYD on Monday 23rd April

Total of 24 flights

7 of those flights don't have J.... That's problem number 1. The busiest route and you have a mis-match of products. The 737-700's should be stuck on specific routes as much as possible and not where the corporate market is likely to encounter it.

Only 4 of the remaining flights have more than 1 J seat currently booked

10 flights have NO J seats currently booked.....

I suggest lots of op-ups are occurring....

I have been flying MEL-OOL-MEL often, up to 5 return trips over the past 2 months now

Out of 10 trips!

2 flights 100% full, one was a work conference, the other was a Friday night with business people heading home
2 flights I was the only passengers
6 flights - Only myself and 1 or 2 other passengers

actually there are lots of op ups occuring.. I had an extremely apologetic (but not that she did it on the flight) CS, flying from BNE - SYD lunch time. I got moved out of my 1A seat (checked-in) shouldn't have been moved. Got put into 2F. Anyhow i got served last, got my meal which i had for no more about 5-6 mins, and they took away due to landing.. I spoke up at the end, (was a full J cabin) she looked at the manifest i was the ONLY full paying J. Every other seat was upgraded. Had similar problems on other flights.. Also had a flight with no catering in J and many other issues as being highlighted!

No op-ups on my flight between ADL-SYD so far in April. If they were happening as a WP in row 3 with no other visible platinum tags on bags and an empty J cabin, i might have expected to be a candidate. Not sure of the data you have to back up that claim.

Op-ups? Or paid upgrades? There is a subtle but important difference.

I'd say its paid (points) upgrades and Plat status upgrades (what are these called? The 4 segments a year thingy).

If you follow enough threads on AFF you will know this is a pet hate, in that the front toilet SHOULD only be for Business Class passengers and lovestotravel is right, the other thing people bang on about on AFF is consistency, so now Virgin just have to keep it up.

Agreed! I want them to do it more not less!!

Paid J MEL-OOL via SYD. Got substituted with a rogue aircaft SYD-OOL. Not happy Jan. Crew apologetic. Said someone will contact me about compensation. How long does it usually take? Fog in SYD casued heaps of chaos. My 10.10am SYD-OOL was cancelled, but they put me on the 7.45am which was running two hours late. Ended up pushing back at 10.10am anyway. The thing that annoyed me, was that at the Loung in SYD, I was assured that the delayed 7.45am service they were putting me on had a J cabin. The guy looked me in the eye and assured me. I had the choice to rush to the delayed 7.45am service with full J cabin or wait until the 12.25pm (or thereabouts) which was a 737-700 and didn't have J cabn. Obviously I chose to rush to the delayed flight to get what I paid for. Was horrified when stepping aboard that there was no J.
Anyway, trip report will be compiled tonight and posted tomorrow.
MEL-SYD J this morning was fantastic. Great meal, great service.
Still OOL-MEL to go at 1.45pm. Will see what I get in the lottery.

The lounge staff don't seem very aware of the effect of aircraft substitutions. When I remarked that I'd been in 2C when handed a 4C boarding pass in the Adelaide Lounge last night, the response was that she didn't understand how we'd been able to check into the business class area in the first place. I pointed out that the original aircraft didn't have business class, and the replacement did. She seemed a little surprised.

2 out of my 4 DJ flights this week had an equipment change, for whatever that is worth...

Flights seem to be very heavily loaded in Y on Mon 23rd - but with lots of availability in J. I can't even select a seat, so it seems they may have the second row of J blocked out already for op-ups. If that's the case I'll be rather annoyed, as I've had only 1 op-up since J was introduced. Compared to about every second flight when it was PE.

Fair enough. Maybe I am being too harsh.
How long does it usually take to be contacted regarding a partial refund?
