As a platinum member, and regularly sitting in row 3, I've become increasingly annoyed over the past few months with the introduction of the business class seating.

What's the deal blocking off the front of the plane, and making me walk all the way to the back to go to the loo? I don't even go to the loo, but come on...

I was particularly annoyed by this a few weeks ago, when a mother and her child were told they weren't allowed to use the toilet at the front of the plane.

Are business class passengers really that daft and stuck up that their privacy would be impacted by someone walking past to use the toilet? Do any of the business class flyers here REALLY care?

Well there is a reason why people pay a lot more for Business Class tickets .......

Its common practice with many airlines to do so, as the service takes longer its also doing the passengers a favor and stopping them from being stranded by a cart.

well that's the thing. if there's a cart behind you in the way, you now have to wait.

Don't complain or they'll abolish row 3 and replace it with a second set of Y lavs! ;)

Well I was on a flight the otherday and business class was empty. The CSM still put the rope barrierup and wouldn't let the front toilet be used.

Seemed crazy. Lots of people tried and she turned them all back. Crazy for an empty cabin,

I love the dedicated business class lavatory!

I also love how every flight attendant has stopped any attempts for Economy passengers to access it

Thanks Virgin !

While I agree it's crazy for an empty cabin (Yet another empty J cabin..........)

People would not understand that they can access the front lav simply because it's empty....

Have to keep it consistent..

If you follow enough threads on AFF you will know this is a pet hate, in that the front toilet SHOULD only be for Business Class passengers and lovestotravel is right, the other thing people bang on about on AFF is consistency, so now Virgin just have to keep it up.

There is nothing worse than sitting in business and being surrounded by people supposedly waiting to go to the toilet having a good old chat with their mate.

Before J was introduced, about 40% of people who went forward to look for the loo couldn't find it and went to the back anyway!

My feet are really appreciative now that I don't have people wandering around standing on top of me up the front. Unfortunately not everyone using a front toilet has the sense to be quiet to the business passengers. The way they have done it works.

And even sitting down in a J seat while waiting for the toilet to become vacant.

99% of the time, crew will move the carts to allow you to pass. Although it gets hard if the flight's full and there aren't many spare aisle seats.

thanks for the overwhelming response! I take atleast 2 flights per week, but never fly business, so my expectations are somewhat different to what some of you may have. thanks for the insight but, as a new member here I'll take your responses on board and adjust my expectations accordingly :)

No comment! A business class passenger walking past to go to the toilet does not disturb their privacy but economy class passengers do. Makes no sense to me.

I was sitting in business the other day on a full flight and saw the rope trick. Personally I think it is silly to under utilise the front toilet but that it the policy they are choosing to enforce.

And I have never seen a queue for the front toilets in the past 4 years of domestic travel and most times I am sitting in economy front row aisle.

8 pax walking past for the loo vs 168 pax?? big difference IMO.

also you're right JohnK, BNE - SYD there is limited need/time to go to the loo, but many other flight lengths do get a queue, particular when decent is announced.
