Which airline you flew on and how you came about with your ticket is irrelevant. The fact is, you flew on a ticket with its own set of terms and conditions, and you are entitled to to everything as stated - nothing more, nothing less.

In saying so it is still worth putting a claim in as you never know!

By all means ask.

But don't bother with an elongated story.

Just submit the standard missed-points-claim and if you get it - well and good :)

Apologies, I think I worded it badly. What I mean is, your entitlement is based on the ticket that you flew on, in this case, it would be the QF ticket. In the end, it is a contract between the OP and the QF, and JQ is not involved at all (apart from being the one who "bought" the ticket). So, if the QF ticket allows for points and status accruals, then the pax is entitled to (and should) make a claim. JQ (or whoever pays for the ticket) is irrelevant in this case.

yes this is correct. (your original post was a little unclear and could have been read either way :))

On one occasion coming back from DPO QF cancelled the flight meaning I missed the JQ connection to MCY.JQ just said tough luck we will put you on tomorrows plane if there is a seat.went to the QF desk who switched the JQ ticket to QF on the last flight to BNE.I got credited with the points and SCs even though I did not pay for that on JQ.
Moral of the story is if this happens always present your QFF card as this is what I did and points posted automatically.

When I flew from Sydney to Melbourne for the AFL GF last year the Jetstar flight got cancelled and I was put on Qantas. I just had the cheapest fare from Jetstar (probably price beat) but in the end I got QF points and status credits.

I did use my QFF card in the Qantas club when checking in although I never even thought of points at the time.

UPDATE:
Denied, denied, denied, denied!!!!
i just went through the Qantas site and claimed missing points but it didn't work.

Thanks for your responses - as I mentioned was just happy to get back on that flight in J.

you will need to call for this one rather than try and do it on line.

I had a recent situation a couple of weeks ago where QF changed my flight and upgraded me, I had paid for lowest non upgradeable ticket, but as my FF details were in the system received the points automatically for the flight I travelled on.

......I see Jetstar is maintaining its poor rep of canceled or delayed flights!! You should be grateful Qantas was there to give you comfortable flight back so why worry about points with such a windfall
