Hi everyone,

I have found a website - oodles.com, which I have found to be AMAZING for saving money on rental cars in the states. Budget has by far been the cheapest, including unlimited miles etc... I will be booking with my NAB AMEX Platinum card that is linked to my Qantas frequent flyer account and the card looks to have some form of rental vehicle insurance - specifically it says:

Rental Vehicle damage andTheft Excess Waiver (Up to $5,000 per overseas journey).

When I book online with Budget they have a number of extra charges - there are 2 in particular which I'm not sure I need having this card, they are:

Loss Damage Waiver - This one seems to be quite expensive and it can easily double the cost of renting the vehicle.

Supplementary Liability Insurance

Has anyone had experience with ever having to have made a claim, or understands the link between these fee's and the NAB card? I kind of read the NAB benefit to say that any claim that I have to make (god forbid), they will spot me for up to 5 grand?

Thanks again everyone,

Stay safe,

Steve

I've never really trusted CC card insurance.

Has anyone here ever had any good experience making claims?

I am the same, I prefer to take full insurance when renting a car just to keep it simple. But I am open to be convinced otherwise.

I've been using annual policiies as many much of my travel is contructed from nested bookings mainly purchased overseas. As such, few CC insurances provide me with any cover (I believe the Amex Plat Charge and Titanium may).

The NAB cover (along with almost all other credit card covers and travel insurance) is worthless in the US.

Rather than repeating the same thing, please search the US car hire threads in this forum or my previous posts - they explain the situation and options fully.
