Brushing Broome to points further N

What are the temperatures like at this time of year ?

I really like the special effects. You could have some of them printed as postcards. And retire a rich man.

I like Impressionism, but not in my own photos!

It was very strange that the person who picked up my camera deleted the Staircase to the Moon pics. It must have been quite deliberate as a 'confirm' step is required. At a guess, I'd say I had taken about eight pics of the phenomenon, so all the more obvious it was deliberate.

They obviously played with it quite a bit, but must have later got a pang of conscience and handed it in to the police.

The several bits of video they took was just random waving around while they were slouched on a seat in what appeared to be a caravan.

Maybe kids found it and played around. Eventually the parent's noticed it and did the right thing?

It may not be worth it but some people can recover photos from the camera SD card but I think if you've taken more then it may not work. I deleted hundreds by accident once (may have been alcohol involved :p )

I had a bit of a go but no success. Not worth spending a lot of time on.

I stopped at Roebourne, which is at the turnoff from Great Northern Highway to Point Samson & Cossack, to check out the historic prison. That’s when the penny dropped that my camera was on a weird setting. It was Sunday afternoon, so the museum was closed.

Sooo quaint…

Next night’s camp was at the 24h rest stop at Robe River crossing.

I then detoured the 80 clicks into Onslow. Last time I was there in 2012, the Wheatstone LNG facility was under construction and Onslow was still almost a ghost town. The change to a thriving community in four years is astounding.

The old pub is still a landmark, but there is a large modern accommodation section next door.

The almost non-existent remains of Old Onslow are to the S on the flats of the Ashburton River.

Back on North West Coastal Highway and passing through cuttings in the sand dunes that are so common (like 1000 of them) in their fullness on the Canning Stock Route (Way into the WA wilderness).

I then bee-lined to Geraldton and overnighted in accommodation, as it was back into the cold and rain.

Next day was the routine 4.5h run from Gero home - and that’s it.

all those wildflowers I didn't get to see last year and this year probably not going to get to see this year when they say it's a great year for them.

Another enjoyable TR

I think you have the same camera as me https://www.sony.com.au/electronics/cyber-shot-compact-cameras/dsc-hx90v but I'm not sure I've ever been able to do funky photos like that so if you know what setting it was I'd be interested.

I think this app ‎Prisma Photo Editor used to do photos like that which I really liked and it used to be free but it's now $20 a year so I passed.

My camera is a Sony DSC-HX90V. Same as Rooflyer - & drron, I think. Stuffed if I know what setting the person who fiddled with it found.

yep same as mine but I'm puzzled how they did that with that camera

All I eventually noticed was that the mode selector wheel on top was not on the fully auto setting I used. I just flicked it back to full auto and carried on.

I couldn't really be bothered trying to figure out how they got the Impressionist effect. Contrary to some others, I didn't like it! (Although I can see how it had some appeal).

My future memory may struggle enough without being confused by hallucinatory pics from the past. 😜

Grey nomad brother has had trouble in the last month coming down the WA coast finding accommodation so heading inland and waiting until he was allowed back into SA without restrictions and isn't planning on leaving SA soon. He said he heard there were 70 caravans queued to cross the NT SA border and people were waiting hours Can't remember where but he said the Telstra network went down and they had to do all border crossings manually
