To all who supply information, answer questions, etc on this Forum a big "Thank You"

I don't do a huge amount of travel, however this year Mrs Paddy and I treated ourselves to CX J class to Europe when it was on big time sale and this gave me the SCs for Silver.

Some advice on the forums saw a couple of quick and cheap trips to Canberra (completed tonight) and lo and behold I'm Gold!

Next month Mrs Paddy and I are off to the US on a cheap O class fare, and, with some days spare and advice from Drewbles and others, Platinum should be achieved by the time I eventually hit NYC and return to Sydney

Quietly hoping to get an offer to upgrade from O that I hear others are getting....

However, I digress and again "Thank you" to all

Paddy

Glad to hear and you're welcome :D Did you end up on the same flights as me at all? I remember you mentioned you may be flying around the same days as me :) Drop me a line if you are and we'll catch up somewhere along the run!

Good on you Paddy! I remember my first time going from Bronze-Qantas Club-Silver-Gold within 3 months of joining QFF .. :) Good old days!

Good on yer!

As one who has soared to the lofty heights of Gold (never quite made WP) for many years but has plunged back to the depths of Bronze I am starting the long climb back so am encouraged by your efforts! I'll end up 5 SCs short of Silver about 10 days from my anniversary so will be 'forced' to do my first ever SC run, if only a piddly one!

Given you have QP access, I'm not sure I see the value in paying to get PS.

International on-line seat selection is one benefit of PS over QP ...
Yes, it's a pity it will come AFTER the LAX trip! Although I'm happy with what we were given anyway.

It's also about the 'status', Flashware!

Ordinarily I would agree with you Flashware :), But for the sake of a quick $69 fare to lock in PS for 12 months I would be doing it to. (Maybe that is because I am (like you) based in PER, so the 25% bonus would always kick in)

can someone here offer me advice on how a couple of cheapies to canberra and an O class SYD to New York gets from silver to platinum? I am at a loss to understand the OP or am I missing something? 480CS from SYD/New York/SYD in J

Mr!

Mr!

I assume he'll be doing some AA KUPP/YUPPS:?:

even sill, the SC's wont add up...

An O class fare to the US then assuming some internal flying, he's not making a lot of sense to me - and even being very obtruse in the description of flights, I cant see how this hop skip and jump to WP is possible...

Again, am I missing something here?

The OP happens to be on one of the runs i'm doing whilst in the US in a few weeks, which is netting me (and him) 300 SC's for around $750 AUD. I'm doing a few more to end up with around 800 SC's and the OP is also doing another for another 300, so there's 600 SC's for that straight up.

I'm not sure how he's getting the rest of his points, but I can vouch for 600 of 'em :)

Also he said..

That's gotta help with a bump up well towards gold. Add the 600 SC's above, and it's WP ahoy:)

BOS-DFW-SFO-LAX-HNL-LAX-ORD-BOS = 810SC's.

These routes no longer are available online with that type of fare. :-|

That is what I thought. As soon as I tried to add DFW, the cost went through the roof! Still I was happy with 720SC. I got what I needed from it!

SJC/DFW/BOS gives me 240 SC for $US519 and gets me over the line to Plat. Having to go to BOS anyway and quite a bit cheaper than SFO/BOS - again good advice from FF members - look for flights out of smaller airports

Hope that helps

Paddy

I don't know how I missed this advice, I booked SFO-BOS abt. three months ago 150 SC and cost me double what your fare if costing from sjc.

Filed away for next trip,
cheers
