How do I know for certain that if I book and pay for SYD-BKK//SIN-SYD at the price you mention that I won't get asked to pay for 2 full priced one-way fares SYD-BKK and SIN-SYD when I try to check-in. I remember reading on "Libya it is then" thread on FT about all the possible bad things that can happen travelling BA.
Every airline is the same. You deviate from the written rules of a promotion/fare type and you are liable to be repriced. May not happen, but is still a possibility.
The best example of this is children's fares. There is nothing stopping me from buying a Children's fare and then using that fare to fly. It's likely BA would be upset when I checked in, and I could be repriced upon checking in. Qantas would be the same, so would Cathay, Air NZ, Emirates etc. The website allows me to book that ticket, but technically I can't...
The WT+ class on offer has the following ticketting rule:
"COMBINATIONS ARE FOR CARRIER QF/BA/AO OPEN JAWS/ROUND TRIPS/CIRCLE TRIPS FARES MAY BE COMBINED ON A HALF ROUND TRIP BASIS -TO FORM SINGLE OR DOUBLE OPEN JAWS. "
This means that a SYD-SIN//BKK-SYD Itin is allowed. BA are not clear on whether the MC promo allows this or not as a more restrictive rule.
If you really want the correct answer, call BA. I'm sure they will be helpful and give you an answer. I'd feel secure booking that ticket. It's not excluded in the T&C of the MC promo, nor is the offer expressly defined as a return SYD-SIN or SYD-BKK promotion.
But unless you check with BA, there is still a (very remote) possibility of them disagreeing with this interpretation of the rules around the MC promo. If this happened, they may not issue the ticket, or might contact you at some stage before flying to discuss the situation.
Oh, and the guy talked about in
acampbel's trip report here:

"there was an announcement for everyone to sit down and could Mr X make himself known to the cabin crew. A couple of armed police then boarded the plane and escorted Mr X off! "
May have bought a ticket he was not entitled to
