British Airways Business class Syd to LHR

I am booked on BA15/16 later this month. So far the seat maps are showing the old J. I am actually ok with it as I only paid the W fare, and get my choice of seats - rearmost rear facing window seat. ;)

The little drawer is a waste of space.

I don't know when we will see the new J coming to AU.
Its interesting that the F product seems to sell well, based on some of the seat maps I have viewed, but J seems slow. Lots of press about the future of the under-fire CEO today after all the recent troubles with IT, flight cancellations. But as long as they retain this old style J which they are selling at around a similar price to other carriers to AU, they will IMHO continue to struggle against the opposition.

They give guaranteed upgrade vouchers (GUF2) to their elites. A lot of them are used for J-F

Absolutely agree about the old style J product. BA can't compete with that.

However, the relatively new CEO can't really be blamed for the current state of BA, which is mainly down to the previous CEO (Alex Cruz) and board.

VS’s seats weren’t much better! And BA wins with on board service compared to BS, IMO. But VS won on ground services such as their lounge.

BA’s old product is still good against many carriers into and out of london!

Though when on special I do a circle asia paid fare on BA which gives me F SYD-SIN-SYD for a price cheaper than a QF J Circle Asia. And BA F is better than QF J.
Not only that on 1 flight the IFE wasn't working at my seat. They got it going after an hour and the FA told me I would get 11000 Avios in compensation and I did. didn't tell him I was probably not going to use it.

Not any carrier I would fly in J class.

Depends where you need to go! BA has an extensive worldwide network with people going to some countries where the national carrier may not be a viable alternative. Granted Lufthansa also has a big network, but their business class is terrible!

Point taken, but I'm a BAEC Gold and don't really "need" to go anywhere (at the moment). I just find the BA J class offerings (apart from the new J class) to be hugely substandard.

BTW, I've just booked LCA-LHR in J class and know it's a horrible Y class seat, but at least the champagne is nice. Perhaps that's why some people fly BA?

I had my first ‘bad’ Club flight a couple weeks ago… the crew was a bit off, service not up to its usual standard, and the champagne was warm! :( The seats, which i usually don’t mind, got uncomfortable very quickly.

Let’s hope it was a one off.
