British Airways baggage policy

Well BA have scared me away anyway. If QF had any award flights SYD-BKK available on the day I wanted to fly then I wouldn't go anywhere near a BA aircraft.Yada Yada said:Oh well, if they get too gestapo-like in policing this policy they will very likely scare some of their customers away to competitors.
Maybe I am so stupid but I still don't get it. If you are allowed to check-in 23kgs and have carry-on of 6kgs then this gives a total of 29kgs. Why in hell can't I check in one bag of 28kgs with no carry on? I will lift the stupid bag myself and place it in the container and then take it off again if this is the problem. It is just a dumb decision. I certainly hope QF does not go down this path.
I give up. I am losing sleep and worrying for nothing. The really stupid thing about this stupid discussion is that some of the people that totally agree with BA's decision, and arguing pointlessly with me, are the ones that try to maximise their benefits to the utmost when flying anyway. I am sure that not everything they do is within the "rules".
