Hi All.
Quick question - thinking of a week in Singapore with the Mrs - the options are Singapore Airlines or Ethiad.
What would the best option be, is it worth the typical additional $150 per ticket to go Singapore Airlines?

Cheers

SQ service is renowned. Typically under 8 hours flying time your decision may be influenced by timing. I prefer daytime flights. You have options of QF and Emirates.

QF and Emirates are Velocity partners

SQ have better timings than EY if you want to avoid the red eyes , service and soft product is the same on both.

Though IME service has a more refined edge on SQ & don't attempt to ask for a drink within 2 hours on arrival to SIN on EY in Y class.. They 'close" the bar.

They didn't do that on three flights I have taken in the last year.

I treated if as a one off. Was certainly not impressed.
As a point of comparison, I have never had lacklustre SQ service. :D

So I have just booked and we ended up using points and burned 173,000. Booked with Ethiad and we booked Y over and J return for my wife and I...

Don't forget the chauffeur service for the J sector

Too late to the party but if we do this, usually in July for the Great Singapore Sale,I switch Amex or DC points to krisflyer.SQ definitely have better timing and at least one flight will have J award seats.Unfortunately often the redeye.

OK

As someone who has done this about 12 times in the past year in Y and 2 or 3 in J, I can say this:

- SQ service is better in both Y and J
- Food is arguably similar standard on both, SQ Y is the best around though
- EY J is a Flat Bed vs SQ regional
- EY J has the comp chauffeur (last week was Merc S350 with rear reclining seats)
- Y hard product is very similar on both, though one of the EY planes is newer than the other where SQ is consistent
- EY has in flight Internet vs SQ does not
- SQ has more flights vs EY return flight (delayed last week til 1AM dep)

Noting the OP has booked, I look forward to hearing the trip report upon their return!

Yes the SATS lounge. It's near the MH Golden Lounge on the right when you go up the escalator. It has showers (ask for a towel and toothbrush at reception).

Also you can do Early Check In with Etihad. You don't go to the counter, you go to Priority check in near Row 5. It's a small room beside the entrance to immigration in the departures hall.

Cheers
