I have looked long and hard for fares under 2000 dollars... and cannot find one.... Does anyone know of any or maybe even package deals that will save a bit of money

Cheers

They exist

1) When do you want to fly
2) How long do you want to stay in LAX?
3) Do you have a preferred airline? Do you even care who you fly with?

You might want to have a look at www.zuji.com.au for an idea of what might be available. Also, probably a good idea to look at www.bestflights.com.au for some other ideas.

This deal from Air New Zealand should keep you under $2000 unless you want to fly peak season.

This round the world offer is another possibility, $1259 +taxes. You can have upto 5 stopovers. An example itinerary could be BNE-LAX-JFK-LHR-SIN-BNE.

Here another deal from Eva air well under $2000.

Here another deal from Korean air under $2000.

All these have a limited booking time.

Best of luck :D

I want to travel either early December or early January ...

I checked out 'best flights' already... and all the deals they have are supposedly 'sold out.....'

It is very disappointing

That High Season or at best Shoulder Season.

It is not likely that these deals actually "sold out"; It more probable that they never existed at a price less than $2000.

Welcome to AFF missanalytical :)

Thats a tough time to get any decent fares on that route, and especially this close to travel. Early Dec is likely cheaper than early Jan.

Looking at random mid-week dates early Dec on www.airnz.com.au and www.qantas.com.au shows around $2100-2400 incl taxes.

Sorry to hear. Difficult time of the year to book flights.

I don't think it would interest you but this deal is still available until 24th October.

You can travel up to the 2nd December and after the 19th January. The best I could find was 1 seat BNE-LAX on 23rd November but you need to be in London by 3 Dec 05. But you can also try going the other way eg. BNE-SIN-LHR-JFK-LAX-BNE, arriving in London before 3 Dec 05. From what I understand you only need to spend $200 in London towards accommodation or car hire and proceed to LA. Well within your 5 stopover limit. $1259 + ~$400 in taxes.

Sam is the lady to talk to at Best Flights if you are interested.

I still see some availability for cheapish airfares in very early Dec (ie Dec 1/2 etc) or late Jan.

Unfortunately as others have noted, School Holidays, Christmas celebrations and people wanting to be overseas to see rellies affects you being able to get good fares.

My recommendations:
1) Visit your local Travel Agent and ask what is available.

If that doesn't work, then PM me the dates you want to travel and how long you want to be away and I'll try to find the best fares available on those days.

Hi,

I dit his trip once (LAX-BNE). I found it was *much*
cheaper to book the international leg between two
large cities (i.e. LAX-MEL or LAX-SYD) and then
purchase a seperate ticket MEL/SYD-BNE.

The caveats:

a) The baggage allowance will change b/w
domestic and international

b) You should give yourself a day buffer
on either side of the interational leg since
the flights are on two tickets the airlines are
not obliged to put you on a later flight if your
a leg is delayed.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

That is likely to be the case if flying with UA, but is not my experience with Qantas (and I also expect with Air NZ). Generally QF prices are the same from BNE, SYD, MEL unless the cheap fares are sold out to/from one particular city. And while BNE has two flights some days (QF175/176 and QF25/26 before the latter moved to MEL) there is generally god availability ex BNE for the cheaper fares.

For UA, its certainly going to be cheaper to SYD or MEL rather than BNE.

I found it depends when you go.
I recall that Qantas does a direct
flight from LAX to BNE but during
December, that flight often fills up
and the remaining Y class seats
are expensive.

But your right, it appears for the low season
you can go to BNE for the price
of going to MEL.
