Brisbane restaurant recommendations

Organised the family lunch for 9 in NAIM, a Mediterranean influenced vegetarian restaurant in Paddington (Brisbane). Found out from my father that it used to be one of his favourites when known as Mano’s (Italian) back in the 80’s.

Next one on the list to eat is Pata Negra, as it's dog friendly and the kids will hopefully eat some of the tapas (they'll definitely eat Churros ).

Some more recommendations where I've never had a bad meal.

Greenglass, it's a French restaurant at the top of the city - Home - Greenglass | French restaurant - Australian wine - Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Happy Boy, a Chinese restaurant down past Fortitude Valley (I think they may be owned by the same as above but very different) they also have a cheaper lunch menu - Happy Boy

Hellenika, a greek restaurant near James St. Used to be on the Gold Coast at moved up to Brisbane where it's now very hard to get a booking - Brisbane | Hellenika | Greek Restaurant & Bar

Also an honorable mention to Stone and Wood Brewery Brisbane. It's also down towards the Valley but nowhere near the nightlife area of Brunswick St. I wouldn't normally recommend a brewery for food (although I've tried almost all of them in Brisbane) but it's good food and cheap/cheerful (mains around $20). Chiming in far too late, but here's my 2c -

We had dinner last week for our anniversary at La Cache a Vin; we were meant to go last year, but I got sick on our anniversary and had a Covid test instead. Loved it, hate that they're not open on Saturday nights, though.

We had lunch on Valentine's day at Montrachet, and got the private dining room for Mr Katie's intimate 50th dinner last year. Definitely our second choice for lovely French fare and great wine list.

For a fun degustation, try Elska - ELSKA - highly recommend them, and sad they're no longer a short walk from home (moved from Wilston Village to New Farm late last year or early this year).

Have heard good things about Hellenika and most of the restaurants at Howard Smith Wharves.

Hellenika is really good. The only downside was being unable to finish the Banquet for 4 people. The serving sizes are huge.

Very true, I've left with a takeaway box before. In fact, it was proactively offered by the staff.

I’d also endorse Helineka.

Elska, while fancy and flavoursome, was not filling. You shouldn’t have to stop at a burger joint after a $140pp meal.

Simon Gloftis's other restaurant at The Calile is SK Steak and Oyster which I enjoy just as much as Hellenika.

Agree, went there for Valentine's Day, was amazing!

Also late to this thread, but Maeve Wine Bar is great, Mica serves great French pastries near Breakfast Creek.

There are mixed messages about it being permanently closed (Open Table) but the website appears functional: Lutece

It is definitely closed. The website is just a catch up mechanism for people to keep in touch. The space it was in is now run as La Belle Vie (the link that you posted). Still very similar as a restaurant, but Romain has retired. From time to time he arranges group events at other restaurants.

Have been pre-and-post - still a great view, and still similar style.
