Just wondering, am I eligible for the business lounge in Brisbane on the following

1. Bris to Syd qantas economy
2. Syd to Bangkok emirates business same day (booked via qff points)

The website states this for that lounge
International Business Class
Eligible if connecting to or from a Qantas or Emirates international flight on the same day.
One guest allowed and does not need to be travelling.

To me it's pretty clear that i am eligible but the qantas staff just wouldn't let me in. Needless to say I'm pretty pissed off before my flight. But before i take it any further I just wanted confirmation from you guys.

The lounge staff were 100% sure i wasn't. After i left they asked around and now they not 100% sure so they called me and offered me access (just in case). I declined because they wasted so much of my time. Very disappointing qantas

They were 100% wrong, of course you can access the QF lounge if you are on an EK flight, just like if you were on a QF flight you can access the EK lounge. Don't know how they could get it so wrong, not like it's anything new...

If I am eligible for lounge access and departing from an airport with both an Emirates lounge and a Qantas lounge, can I choose either lounge? | Emirates Australia

We recommend that you use the lounge of the operating airline to ensure convenient gate proximity and access to boarding calls and other flight information.

Qantas /emirates didn't seem like they main issue in this case but yes, the lady did say Emirates passengers not allowed either. Guess they don't know what's going on sigh

Access should have been granted. If it's any consolation the food and beverage is far better in the Emirates lounge.

Mate, I'm in here right now until boarding at 13:50.
I'll guest you if it's not too late.

Edit. Just read your follow-up post about their change of mind. You did what I would have. Enjoy your trip.

As I read it, the OP was seeking access to the BNE dom J lounge before his first flight which, I agree, should have been allowed.

How most of these people err on the side of poor service rather than promoting good will towards their business confuses me. What are they seeking to protect? Particularly when they eventually educate themselves and find out that they were wrong. The business, employee and customer all lose. Then the customer gets to make a new decision about where their money is spent.

This one deserves a written complaint if you've got the time.

Awesome guys. I will be writing to them so hopefully this doesn't happen again to someone else
Also hope I don't get this problem on the way back in Syd to bris.

Thanks for the offer mule

The OP doesn't define which lounge at which port they were trying to access, which is ambiguous as it could refer to either SYD or BNE

Yes Brisbane domestic business lounge.
In syd i shouldn't have problem getting into Emirates international business lounge

I suggest twitter for a quick response. I tweeted a suggestion for the BNE international lounge and got a prompt response. (Bar fridge on level 5) #FWP

Isn't QF BNEd J lounge still going under retro works at the moment?
I would do it, ie, make an effort to get QF BNEd J lounge access once the lounge has been updated.
But at the moment, what with the works being done, while it is not to the OP's liking, I would have said, no loss.
But in a few weeks/months, then make a effort to get access, ie, points upgrade.

While it is undergoing a reno, it is still open and more than capable. Could be bigger I'll admit, but F&B is much better than the other side still.
