So we have now qualified!

Who is going? How are you getting there? Match tickets? Hotels?

I'm torn, if I can get award seats I will book some but I see accommodation and match tickets as by far the biggest problem...let the countdown commence!

Unless you are willing to try the lottery, the only way to get guaranteed match tickets is by purchasing a hospitality package from FIFA.
These are already up for sale and have been for some time.

For example you can see all three of Australia's group games for $7,300.

Home - FIFA MATCH Hospitality

That said, if you want to see Australia games, you might be okay for the lottery as you would be given a higher chance (being from that country) and these games would likely be of relatively low demand.
But if I go, I would want to see the Argentina V Hollands and the Brazil V Spains so for those high demand tickets, lottery chances would be v low I'd imagine.

Good luck.

Planning on going via Santiago most likely, or do people think going to LA first would be the best option?

I was looking at this the other day.
Via SCL seems like the goer, much quicker and cheaper.

That's for "Business" Seating.

You can currently buy individual group matches (at "Pavillion" level) for US$1,700 per game (US$5,200 for three).

True, but unsure why they aren't selling the three group games in a package at levels lower than pavillion ?

And you can't even get the package which goes all the way to the Finals lol looks like the haters are already writing us off

Maybe the 3xGroup package Quota has been exhausted.

I suppose anything is possible. But note that the 3xGroup packages are still available for other teams including Argentina, Holland, and Germany.

Looking at FF seats with QF May/June next year the routing is SYD-LAX-MIA-GIG (no thanks) or SYD-SCL-GIG (much better).

I am thinking of rolling it into a DCIRC29 fare although these have not been of good value lately...agreed that finding a decent room for a decent price will be a challenge.

Maybe an AFF group buy and we can all wear AFF luggage tags instead of yellow wigs?

Just checking timings of when the games will be shown here:

Local time - SYD time (based on Brasilia)

13:00 - 02:00 -
15:00 - 04:00 - not great
14:00 - 05:00 - getting better - final is on at this time (not that that will be relevant to the Aussies - or the English)
18:00 - 07:00 - not bad

I'm after award tickets, preferably SYD-SCL on QF27, but as I want 2x J it's going to be as hard (if not harder ;) ) than securing actual tickets to see Brazil play LOL

Suffice to say i won't be paying $1,000 a game, hopefully the cheapest tickets will be less than $100 but will just have to see...

And Perth is two hours earlier so the middle of the day games could be on around midnight here, but those evening ones will be a killer....

I remember in '06 sitting up till 4.30am or so to catch one game in Germany...

As I guy that went to Primary School with Mark Schwarzer (& played U8s, 9s and 10s with him) I'd love to go as I suspect this will be his last go around on the World Cup stage. Pretty sure my points are spoken for though :(. Oh well Foxtel iQ it is!

Note that the above was for the 2010 World Cup.
Since the prices for next year's showpiece event do not yet seem to be publically available, they are probably the best estimates we have.

I don't think it will differ too much.

I know most of you here only fly J long-haul but there are what seems to be seriously cheap Y fares for next year June. Return for $2014 all on QF metal.
I haven't seen Qantas fares to South America that cheap for ages.
May well go up though when the world cup dates become available (mid June-mid-July).

Note that $2014 is MEL-SCL return. SCL-GIG return is about A$450 on expedia from what I can see (expedia dates only go as far as May 2014 so again may not be accurate).

Lol just noticed that the price of $2014 lol exactly the world cup year lol maybe the pricing team over at QF are having a bit of fun lol.

Anyone plan on going to any other places while there for the Cup? I had 3 weeks approved......I was thinking maybe 1.5-2 weeks in Brazil for the Cup then another 1.5-1 weeks travelling around a bit. Peru for Machu Picchu? Argentina for the falls? They were the two I was looking at.....anyone else recommend?

Most? I think not. There are only so many seats on an aircraft and the overwhelming majority are down the back.
