Booking Vego meals on codeshares

So I fly with China Southern on a Qantas codeshare.

Qantas can't book me a vego meal.

China Southern can't see my booking until 8 hours before the flight, but a vego meal has to be requested 24hrs before the flight.

So no vego meal.

Am I missing something?

Even on codeshares in the past I've found meal requests to flow through, but maybe they just can't guarantee the meal request?

You can normally do the meal request online in manage my bookings, did you try putting it in there?

Manage my bookings says that the meal request is not available on this flight.
I called Qantas and they confirmed the same.

I have tried this also, but they can not see the booking until 8 hours before the flight.

Oh, and the ability to change your profile to callup special meals is also now not possible from the Qantas Website.
It has to be done by making a call to Qantas, who then advised me to check each booking for the special meal as it 'may not work'.....

That's pretty poor.

According to this thread on another forum, all Chinese carriers use an independent booking system called Travel Sky. Perhaps try putting your CZ PNR in there and see what comes up.

That said, according to a few TRs, posts out there, the delivery of vego meals on CZ - even when booked against their own website - appears to be a bit hit-and-miss.

Yes.

It wasnt worthe the effort.

'Yellow' pasta, mushrooms and plain tomato sauce. Just horrible.
