Hi All,

I notice when you select redeem reward flight that the infant box get's locked. Does this mean you can not travel with an infant on a reward fare or just that you need to call and have the infant added.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

You need to call up to book the infant seat. It costs 10% of a cash fare. I have done it a few times and it is quite easy.

Any idea how to find out what that would be? I am looking at flying oneway in first from Munich to Sydney but using the online booking system it won't allow that and I can't therefore get an idea on price. Since prices change do they base it on a set price or is it the price on the day you call?

I'm not sure about that. My dates have never been too negotiable so have just always accepted whatever the price was they stated.

Just did a dummy booking on the website fine? Looks to be about $EU7K, so infant fare approx $700EU

Just call up the bookings line and ask for the price for the date you want prior to booking the redemption? Then if you are happy book the redemption online for the discount, call back and give the phone operator the booking ref and they will fix up the rest for you.

Just for a point of reference, my wife and I added our infant son to our suites booking SYD-SIN-CDG for later in the year and it only cost us $1027SGD.

Looking at booking MEL-SIN-ZUR then LHR-SIN-MEL in Suites

Booking as 2 seperate tickets as the website can't handle making an award booking for a multi-citi trip.

If I needed to add an infant to this trip, booked as 2 one-ways it seems the cost per flight is around $8k or nearly $19K combined, but as a return flight it's $13K so a saving of $3K or $300 for an infant fare (10%)

Can I book a multi-city award booking on the phone and then pay the $1300 for the infant instead of $1900 ?

So booked the trip MUC-SIN-SYD called to have the baby added, the call centre lady put me on hold for quite awhile and came back that she can't get a price and that someone from Munich would call within 48 hours. That was 6 days ago and no call, however email was received with new booking confirmation showing baby added and bassinet seats selected. Anyone have any thoughts?

I would follow up. I had the same issue with my ex-NRT ticket and I got a call back same day.

If you book it using Velocity points infants appear to be free - can't book suites though. Just regular F

I'd booked a J award for my wife for next week and she called up to add our daughter (infant) to the booking a couple of days ago. The Krisflyer number asked her to call the Australian number since the flight is originating in Perth (strange as that didn't happen to me previously) and eventually they managed to book an infant ticket. We've received the email e-ticket with our daughters name on it, but I noticed that the booking reference is different to my wife's and our daughter isn't showing up on the manage my booking.

The agent told my wife that it wouldn't show up linked online but that everything has been linked on their end, and I imagine that's probably true given they wouldn't book a flight for a 7 month old independently, but should we call back to try and sort things out? Our upcoming family trip to Japan has our daughter added to the booking when I go in to check, which is making me question what this agent was saying..

I won't be flying with them so don't want them to get there and be problems (especially since baby has my surname and wife's passport is still in her maiden name)!

I have had this experience before. It added a few minutes at check in but otherwise no other problems. You just want to make sure you have the booking credit card with you at check in. But if you are concerned, call again and ask for them to be linked.

Thanks for the heads up!

We're going to need to do this next year once our first bub arrives early 2017.

Wondering if there are any tricks/procedures/guides to best book with points, now there will be 3 of us.

3 Including Bub?

It's pretty simple, just search for the flights you want with 2 seats available once booked call up and have the infant added to the booking, cost is 10% of full fare. Only other thing I would add is think about your seats carefully, my wife always wanted us seated together however our daughter would never leave mum alone when she knew she was there. We finally booked at different ends of the plane and my wife was able to get some time alone and a sleep.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.
