Booking Reward flight(not enough points)

Trying to book flight requiring 350000 points and I have 300000 but was planing to do points and pay which I have ticked but the virgin site what let me continue saying I have insufficient points but can buy more. Anyway around this?

potentially you might have to buy those 50000 points, there is a 20% booster atm

42000 + 8400 points for $1032

seems silly when even if I had the 350000 points I would still use the 'points and pay' option as I needed the leftover points for a different flight
