Hey all,

I'm wondering if you can still book flights for friends on point. I recall there used to be a check box to say you were booking for someone else - but I've gone through the points booking screen by screen and can't see it. Can you still do this?

I'm traveling too but I can't get a business class fare on my flight so I'm booking an earlier flight for my friend and then hoping to get her on the same flight on the way home, which does have a seat available.

I'm guessing you are probably talking about using Qantas points on Qantas flights, but to get the right answers you need to give the experts on here (not me) the Frequent Flyer program you're using and the airline you are trying to book.
If you ARE talking about QF points and flights, then there is a list of 'Eligible Family Members' that you can book flights for, that does not include friends, sorry to say.
Other points programs let you book tix for anyone you want.

As this is in the Velocity forum, I assume it's about Velocity points?

You certainly could redeem Velocity points for anybody in the past, and I'm not aware of any changes to that policy.

As Matt has said, this is certainly something that has been possible - I have done so myself several times for friends of ours. It's simply a matter of booking a normal points/reward seat and then entering your friends details in the passenger information section.

Velocity doesn't care if you spend the points on someone else, and Virgin will have all of your friends details on the booking and won't care who or how it was booked. They should have the normal business class experience and benefits. Although obviously as a reward booking there will be no points or status credits accumulated :D

I got an error when I tried that - but it might have been a once off, I'll give it another go!
