If you book an international flight through a partner airline (e.g. Etihad)
do you get Velocity status credits or earn VFF points (at all?)

I need to book a flight from AUH-IST which I will do through Etihad, am I best off just joining the Etihad loyalty program and earning the Etihad credits?
or can I somehow integrate my VA account with that flight?

Provided the flight is operated and marketed by Etihad (and you have applied your VA number to the booking/sector), my understanding is that you'll earn SCs as per the earning rates table:
Status Earn Fare Class| Velocity Frequent Flyer and points as per the Points earning table: Points Earn with Airline Partners | Velocity Frequent Flyer
(provided the booking class is eligible)

If your booking is made via VA, as a codeshare onto Etihad, I believe you also earn a status bonus on points, and that they count as "qualifying sectors" for status renewal.

Edit: Looks like you earn a status bonus on EY flight numbers too, which is decent.

so do you earn VA Status Credits AND Etihad status credits off the same flight?
