I need to book two one way fares as we are doing a cruise next year Singapore to Istanbul.

The flights I need are SYD-SIN in May 2015 and IST-SYD in June 2015.
I am looking at a JASA for the SYD-SIN leg but how do I even book a revenue fare for IST-SIN? Neither QF or Emirates websites allow it. Do I have to ring? Is there a charge payable or is it waived because I can't do it online?

The fees won't be waived for booking via the call centre unfortunately - even if it's outside your control. Qantas is almost unique in slugging you the hefty fees for this service :(

I would use googleflights to find the cheapest fare that suits your needs. And book directly with the airline concerned.

If you want to stick to the One World airlines, then Malaysia one way fares are often quite reasonable and they fly out of Istanbul - and you will earn status credits and points and gain the benefit of Lounge access as a WP. You should be able to easily book online for Malaysia Airlines - or find a "caring" travel agent to help out one you know the fare you are after.

I just booked SYD-IST for 110000 velocity points in J which I thought was reasonable value. Etihad would have this as a revenue fare.

How about coming home from LHR via FASA? You could do a classic award IST-LHR with BA.

We're also going to be in IST next year for Anzac Day. Decided to go thru LHR to take advantage of our last SYD-LHR-SYD FASA :D Just booked BA J x 2 LHR-ATH/IST-LHR for 973 quid.

Checkout www.skyscanner.net the cheapest one way fare IST/SIN is USD574.00 on EK via DXB & CMB or USD604.00 via DXB only. A return fare starts around USD1,022.00 IST/xDOH/SIN & vv on QR.

For IST/SYD, you could purchase a TK/CX combo IST TK x/HKG CX SYD for USD1,313.00 pp. I'd ring QF to ask about a partner award on EK iST/xDXB/SIN as although you can enter the search online for IST/SIN as a Classic Award it comes with the following error:

Qantas.com flight search error:
We are unable to find the requested outbound on any departing flights of the airlines that we search. (# 9200)

Thanks everyone.
I ended up booking the SYD-SIN as a JASA prior to the 30 Jun cutoff. Now just looking at the one ways IST-SYD. Only have 50,000 QFF points in the kitty post a big year of spending, have no VA points. Looks like I will go for a paid fare, looking at EK J for around $3000 each.

Can someone conform that even with the QF/EK partnership, I would get no SC's for this?
