Dear AFF colleagues,

I am having difficulties with my QF booking which means that I cannot access any of the normal services such as entering the APIS details or seat selection. I have called Qantas and they could not find any problems and my travel agent was unable to offer any suggestions.

My passenger details seem to have included some additional information besides my QFF number. It currently also has a Hertz Gold number showing twice.

The actual details in the Passenger section look like this:

Mr xx_xx_XX
QF xx_xx_XX | Hertz xx_xx_XX | Hertz xx_xx_XX

I was told by a Qantas Club staff member that there should not be the Hertz Gold membership numbers in that area.

Can anyone confirm this statement. Is the inclusion of the Hertz Gold numbers likely to be causing the difficulties in accessing some of the normal services?

Is there any way to edit this information and remove the Hertz Gold numbers from the passenger information?

That makes sense - the system is probably reading that whole line as being your QF number and that's making it incomprehensible.

How did your hertz number even get into your QF info - once, let alone twice? Sounds like a TA issue.

Is it possible for you to completely remove everything in the QFF number field? (You can re-enter your QFF number later).

Has the TA booked a Hertz car through the GDS so the car rental appears as a segment of your pnr? If there's no car booking just ask the TA to delete both the Hertz entries. If there is a car booked get them to delete one of the Hertz Gold numbers from your pnr.

Some TA's create passenger bookings from a corporate profile in their GDS which could automatically transfer the Hertz Gold number across to your pnr even if you don't have car segments booked. The TA may be entering the Hertz number again when they do the car booking in the frequent traveller field hence the duplication.

If you do actually have a live car segment or hotel segment in your GDS pnr it could well be the reason you don't have the usual functionality. I have heard of cases where people have tried to do online checkin and not been successful due to there being auxiliary segments (car, hotel etc) in the pnr. TA's often book cars through the GDS as it's quicker than booking separately on the Hertz website and automatically adds the agent's IATA number to track commissions.

If all else fails the only option would be to ask the TA to cancel the cars/hotels booked in the GDS and book them yourself or get the TA to book it on a website.

Hi ozbeachbabe,

Yes, the TA has included two Hertz car bookings in my PNR so that probably explains the reason for the Hertz Gold number appearing twice.

I also have been told that they include my Hertz Gold number in the booking as it makes it easier for them as all of my details are then automatically included rather than having to reenter those details.

I appreciate your suggestions as to how to resolve the issue.
