We have booked and paid for QF return to LA. Now we are trying to book 3 internal USA flights but can’t manage it on the Qantas site. Skyscanner and Webjet give us lots of options and we will more than likely stick with American Airlines for points. Any suggestions about the best way to book? Thanks.

AA.com (US site) is definately a good place to start. It can be a bit temperamental actually booking/paying for flights for non-US addresses. ITA Matrix is a more powerful search tool and usually well aligned to actual AA fare availability.

Before you booked your Oz-LAX flights, did you check the price on QF of the internal flights using the multi-sector tool? It can work out quite reasonable doing it that way and picking up QF codeshare flight numbers for better points and SCs.

Thanks SYD, yes we noticed the AA site is temperamental. Will have another go. No, we just booked return flights when QF had a sale, needed to make sure we could be there to join a cruise we booked first. Now thinking about filling in the last couple of weeks, hence some internal flights. We can always do a driving holiday. Mind you, because of where we live, we are used to exorbitant QF flight prices just to get to a city, so flying anywhere in USA always seems very cheap to us! Appreciate your suggestions.

Another tip I should have mentioned. Multi sector bookings can sometimes be cheaper than one ways. You mentioned three internal flights so I'm guessing LAX to A, A to B and B to LAX.

If you haven't already, try that as a multi city to check the total price and compare with oneway sectors etc
