Hi

I am about to book flights to Africa. I want to book one seat as a classic award and the other a paid seat.

I can book a classic award

SYD-JNB VFS-CPT (Victoria Falls) CPT-SYD in J

I cannot do the same as a paid seat on the Qantas website. I can only do SYD-JNB CPT-SYD. If I add the Victoria Falls flight it errors out.

Does anyone know if you should be able to do this on the web or does it require a phone call

Thanks in advance.

I presume you're having problems with seats on Kulula-operated BA(Comair) flights between JNB and CPT? It's probably got something to do with Kulula flights not being in Amadeus, you'd need to call Qantas

In fact I'm rather surprised you can get your award seats for these flights as Kulula isn't part of OneWorld

Hi sergeyvzn,

I have been playing around in the system and actually once i remove the VFA-JNB sector everything else is good to go.

I will try calling though as it will be cheaper to bundle it all together i guess.

A bit OT but how are you travelling between JNB and VFS? We have been looking at Rovos Rail and I just wondered if you were using that?

He would be flying of course
Both BA(Comair) and South African Airways fly the route, it's a short 1.5 flight

I wondered because he did not list JNB - VFS in the itinerary/booking. It looked like JNB was the end of one leg, then VFS - CPT the start of the next.

Most flights from Cape Town to Victoria Falls go via JNB so it sort of goes without saying. There are some direct flights I think but not every day. I actually didn't notice the open jaw when I first read it...it may have been the reason of the paid booking not going through due to the fare class not allowing open jaws

can you make the booking through expedia or another OTA?

One paid seat perhaps. The award seat might be a problem.

Happy wandering

Fred

PS I make those mistakes as well

obviously :)

but if the OP can avoind paying $60 to QF for something an on line agency will do - more the better. I find OTAs can sometimes offer more generous routings than individual airlines.
