Have just had a series of flights bought for me for an event I am going to, they have been booked in class 'X', from what I have read this no longer gets any points or status??

I have also tried to put in an upgrade request but computer says no, i'm guessing as it is due to being a heavily discounted fare??

Anyone got any link to where I can find out some up to date info?

X class is a frequent flyer redemption class. Perhaps the flights were "purchased" with FF points? It will not be upgradeable nor will earn any status credits or points.

Cheers, that was my fear, no point sticking my BA FF number on them then, not the best to be stuck at the back, but they are free flights.

OWR is better than nothing. it certainly can't hurt!

I was gifted a ticket from QF for that final 767 flight back in Dec (thank you again QF!) and absolutely no way it would earn anything (and I had no expectation that it should or would) but I did put my FF# in and that definitely helped with the seating up forward.

so pop it in - certainly can't hurt. :)

Just changed over from my Qantas number to BA via the Finnair MMB, have got an extra 2 rows further forward now, not much but it will help, shame I can't book exit seats, legroom is my main reason for wanting to upgrade, one problem with being tall

You should be able to select the exit rows at T-80 assuming the flight isn't too elite heavy.
