Hi All
Appologize if asked before but need some advice to make the best use of my amex explorer points .
i wish to use points to fly business class Sydney /Bangkok return . Now if im looking at it correctly it takes 120000 points to fly thai business using krysflyer miles ( star alliance ) , but showing as 98000 miles if i was using royal orchard miles ..Is this difference the norm ??
As i like direct flights im pretty much limited to flying thai on this route with explorer points yeah ??
Any advice appreciated .

Star alliance round trip award is 110k KF miles AU to thailand. Should be able to book thai direct flight via call centre.

58k one way to fly SQ syd-sin-bkk otherwise.

Asia miles sounds a good option at 80k round trip.

Each airline sets its own prices for award travel. Charts cannot be used interchangeably. Qantas charges 120K for the same route, AA charges 80K, and UA just 60K for the same flights.

hey thanks for the replies and certainly food for thought :) .. the surcharges tacked on vary it seems also .

Using Asia Miles for qantas , would it be possible the business class flight could be on Emirates plane due to codeshare ?? ( reason i ask is because the emirates big bird is very nice :) )
