Hi All,

Quick question: what would be the best way for me + 1 to book the following:
  • a QFF award LONE4 seat, plus
  • a paid LONE4 seat to go for the AA plat challenge

We would like to sit together with a minimum of fuss, but we'd like to take advantage of existing QFF points for one of the seats, and use the other paid seat to go for the AA platinum challenge.

I would like to use the AA RTW desk to circumvent fuel surcharges, but how then do I book the QFF award so we're sitting together?

Many thanks in advance.

Firstly, the QFF award is not a LONE4, it's a QFF oneworld Award ...

You can start booking your QFF oneworld award from 353 days out for BA and QF flights (LA?). You will need to wait for 330 days out to book flights on AA, CX and 90 days(?) for JL.

You won't be able to start your AA booked LONE4 until the 330 day mark.

The best way is to construct and book your 16 segment QFF award first (as soon as the seats become available), ensuring it adheres to xONEx rules.

Then locate your L class flights and book with AA 3 weeks later from 330 days.

Thanks for the info serfty.

There's a bit of a catch. We're hoping to leave sometime early June this year and don't have the QFF points yet. We'll easily get there by the time we leave, but I suspect this is an issue.

Do you think we have any hope securing an award RTW for departure in about 3 months? Can I book this in advance without yet having the points?

No and No!

It's difficult enough to even get L class on some long-haul flights 3 months out, let alone X ...
